Many celebrities go by a stage name while maintaining their given name but for some celebrities like Katherine Heigl, she does things quite differently.

Although the actress and fashion model goes by her given name on stage, she revealed to "The Drew Barrymore Show," that she answers to a different name in her private life.

On the show, Heigl disclosed that no one calls her Katherine, which according to her was more sophisticated and sounded adult. Instead, she’s called "Katie," a shortened version of her name which she prefers.

Separating The Two Lives

The "Grey Anatomy" actress shared that the different names helped her separate her work from her private life, and so she embraced both names with open arms.

Wasting no time, the host of the show, Barrymore started referring to the actress as Katie during the interview and also compared the situation to Anne Hathaway recent disclosure that she prefers being called Annie.

During the interview, Barrymore asked Heigl if she felt as if she had to women with different names and personalities running inside her to which Heigl replied that she would sometimes feel like that.

Maintaining The Home Ground

In her home life with husband Josh Kelley and their three children, Heigl joked that she is more of a drill sergeant.

She shared that she is strict about monitoring her children's use of technology and TV time and only permitted them to use tablets because she can control its use.

She shared saying,

"I have ultimate control over the devices and I feel like I can safely do this now."

Heigl wants to make sure contents are kids are exposed to are safe and they have access to books.

In the course of an interview with "Washington Post," the 42-year-old opened up about the backlash she received earlier in her career and how it impacted her life. Heigl endured public outrage for such things as saying her role in the 2007 film "Knocked Up" was sexist.

While reeling from the effect of that statement, she further went on to withdraw herself from Emmy consideration in her role as Dr. Izzie Stevens on the medical drama series, "Grey's Anatomy."

The actress felt she didn't warrant a nomination because according to her, she "wasn't given the material this season."

Facing Public Ire Left Katherine Heigl With Anxiety

In the interview, Heigl shared that the controversy about her escalated quickly with words like, "Unprofessional and difficult" used to describe her. She says was asked to "shut the f**k up at the time."

Reflecting the moment, Heigl disclosed that the more she apologized or got scared of making a wrong turn, the more guilty she appeared which was used to crucify her.

Weighing in on the matter, Heigl's husband of thirteen years, Josh Kelly thinks everything would have been different if it happened today with Heigl even considered a hero for rejecting a nomination.
