At the age of 80, renowned English astrologer Margaret Anne Lake, also known as Mystic Meg, passed away.

Mystic Meg was famous for hosting a weekly program dubbed "Mystic Meg Predicts" on the national lottery show from 1994 to 2000. She used to write horoscopes and frequently predict lottery results.

According to reports, she was suffering from the flu last month and was treated at St. Mary's Hospital after being admitted. Several fans have taken to social media to pour in tributes for the "most famous astrologer."

This iconic astrologer passed away at age 80 after battling a brief flu illness. Meg died at around 3 a.m. on Thursday at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London, where she had been admitted.

She was a well-known host of the National Lottery program "Mystic Meg Predicts" from the 1990s, where she would emerge from a cloud of smoke and use a crystal ball to predict the jackpot winner.

Her Russian gypsy grandmom taught her astrology, according to the Daily Mail. She worked briefly as a sub-editor for the News of the World newspaper before it closed, and she majored in English at the University of Leeds.

After a former love interest of hers tragically died in a car accident, Meg never got married. She shared her three-bedroom London apartment with seven cats.

Dave Shapland, Meg'slong-time agent, told The Sun, "Without any question, she was Britain's most famous astrologer by a million miles. Nobody came close to Meg in that respect. She was followed by millions in this country and also around the world."

The assistant continued by outlining her influence and mentioning how she contributed to the English language.

Several fans and colleagues of the famous astrologer have taken to social media to pay their last respect to her.

"Ahhh loved Mystic Meg before the s**ty Sun did its job on Liverpool supporters in the wake of Hillsborough," one person wrote. Another said, "RIP Mystic Meg. Don't get me wrong, it's all a load of bollox, but she was fun to watch."

"RIP Mystic Meg. That crystal ball knew everything," a fan wrote.

A fourth user shared, "Just by looking through your eyes, She could see the future penetrating right In through your mind, See the truth and see your lies. But for all her power couldn't foresee her own demise. RIP."

One Twitter user who claimed to know her in person wrote, "Morning I thought today is quiet news wise then I heard Mystic Meg has passed away so RIP Mystic Meg. We worked together a few times, mainly on TV shows. She used to offer to tell me about my future. I was a bit weary of her, to be honest. Away from the mystic part, she was a charming lady."

Meg took over as host of the national lottery TV program after it was introduced by the BBC in 1994 and received more than 20 million viewers, according to The Sun.

She once foresaw the purchase of the lottery jackpot in Sunderland, and her prediction came to pass. It was bought by a group of newspaper readers who shared £ 2.4 million.

The news outlet also reported that the fortune teller helped another of its readers win about £23,000 in 2002.

Given that she was never married and had no children, it is unknown who the deceased astrologer is survived by.

Meg reportedly lived in London with her pets, whom she claimed found her and moved in with her, per The Sun. She's also known to have developed a keen liking for horses.

According to the news outlet, Meg previously shared that she had invincible "special friends" with whom she communicated.

"I can still remember being taken to the coast to see how the phases of the moon affected the tide and realizing they affected people, too," she said.

Meg added, "Like all children, I had special friends no one else could see, but while most kids are talked out of theirs, I kept mine. My great-grandmother, who had the gift, made sure I kept mine."
