Bam Margera Was Arrested For Domestic Violence
The legal troubles for Margera, 43, pile on after a woman claimed he physically assaulted her. According to TMZ, deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department confirmed that he was arrested last Thursday following a call from a woman claiming he kicked her.
He was then charged with corporal injury to a spouse, cohabitant, dating partner, or fellow parent and was taken into custody and lodged in the Vista Detention Facility.
Although the accuser referred to Margera as her "husband," sources told TMZ that Nicole Boyd, his estranged wife, wasn't the one who initiated the legal action. The sheriff's department divulged that they wouldn't be pressing charges from their end, and Margera was later released after posting bail of $50,000.
His Previous Legal Troubles
Margera and his 38-year-old estranged wife, Boyd, were embroiled in a legal dispute just over a month ago. The "Togetherness" alum filed for separation from the "Jackass" actor after allegedly seeing their 5-year-old son, Phoenix, while under the influence of alcohol despite insisting he wasn't.
Boyd's legal representative, David Glass, said he acted "inappropriately," prompting the model to file for separation, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Per The Blast, Boyd has asked for legal and physical custody over their son, Phoenix, and also insisted on spousal support.
Bam Margera Battles Substance Abuse
The "Viva La Bam" creator has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction over the years, raising worries and concerns from his friends and loved ones.
Margera has been to rehab about three times in the last year alone, as he's fond of escaping every time.
His last rehab stint was tweaked to make him more comfortable, considering his constant escape from several facilities.
"They're gonna try an outpatient approach and pray for different results," a source told TMZ. It got so bad that Margera's friend and "Jackass" co-star, Steve-O, had to publicly plead for him to "choose recovery" concerning his age-long battle with addiction.
At the time, Margera took to social media ranting while he was intoxicated, prompting the YouTuber to warn that he was walking a fine line.
"Bam, last night you had your five-year-old son with you on stage at my show, and you were blessed with the chance to spend another day or two with him," Steve-O, 48, shared in an already deleted post, per Page Six.
He continued, "then as soon as you left my show, you stayed up all night getting loaded enough to think it was a good idea to post more vile nonsense like this."
The former "Wildboyz" host acknowledged that he has done everything in his power to assist Margera but that no one can force him to "do the work of recovery."
"You say you want to have a relationship with your son, but your actions guarantee the exact opposite will happen. I brought you on tour with me in hopes that I could get you to see what's possible for you if you choose recovery," he shared.
Bam Margera Says He Was 'Basically Pronounced Dead'
The actor's health worries were rekindled when he revealed a troubling health scare.
Margera revealed on a January episode of "Steve-O's Wild Ride!" that his December hospitalization was actually brought on by multiple seizures, as opposed to what was initially believed to be pneumonia.
"I basically was pronounced dead on Elvis' birthday, December 8," he said. "I did not know that I had gnarly COVID."
Margera continued, "My body was shutting down, and I went into four seizures, each one lasting 10 to 20 minutes, and on the fourth one, I bit my tongue so hard it was nearly falling off."
He went on to share that he became conscious again after five days and didn't realize so much time had passed, thinking he had only stayed there "for a couple of hours."
