Walt Disney World's newest roller coaster -- TRON Lightcycle / Run -- is set to open in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom in April.

Guests will climb aboard their very own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure across the Grid. When speaking on the new ride, Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro said that this is just the "tip of the iceberg" for what's to come at the Disney Parks.

Josh D'Amaro recently sat down with Orlando Business Journal, where the Disney Parks Chairman shared his thoughts on the newest ride, and how TRON Lightcycle / Run is just the start of the future for Disney Parks.

“Tron is spectacular, and adding something of this size and scope to the most visited theme park in the world is pretty ambitious and incredible,” D’Amaro said. “You see the guests walking off that experience … the look on their faces — and it adds to the whole experience we offer here. But there’s no end … Tron is the tip of the iceberg of what’s coming.”

“Our Imagineers, our entire team, are incredibly ambitious about the experience here and how it will continue to grow and evolve,” D’Amaro continued to explain. “You’ve seen it come to life with the 50th anniversary coming out of the pandemic and how we stood right back up and brought back all the things people love and added new things. You have seen it at Epcot — it’s totally transforming — and that will continue to transform.”

At D23 Expo last year, D'Amaro announced that a new land is under development at Magic Kingdom. The expansion is set for beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Frontierland and would feature "Coco", "Encanto", and Villains. Additionally, a potential "Moana" and "Zootopia" area could come to Disney's Animal Kingdom. Although nothing is set in stone, these were just some of the many “potential expansion opportunities" at Disney World.
