It’s unknown how long he’s been battling lung cancer, but it’s clear he was diagnosed before His arrest in December.
According to a Daily Mail report, Tate confirmed he had a “dark spot on his lung’ that is most likely a tumor.”
His team told the outlet, the kickboxer attended a medical consultation with doctors in Dubai about his “serious” health condition that must “not be taken lightly” before he was arrested in December.
Andrew Was Receiving Treatment Prior To His Arrest
He’s been receiving medical treatment in Romania for it, and Tate ensures he’s remaining “strong” and “in good shape.”
Tate’s doctors in Duabi and Romania revealed he has a lesion on his upper right lung.
A spokesperson for Tate said, “Andrew was made aware of his serious condition before his arrest, after attending a consultation in Dubai. As he could not be monitored by his chosen medical team in Dubai, it meant he was taken to a Romanian local clinic whilst in detention. No official diagnosis has been confirmed and he is in good shape and is staying strong. His doctors have requested that he returns to Dubai for further testing. Andrew has not demanded this. This is not a health issue to be taken lightly and all due diligence is being made to make sure he gets the best medical care that is available to him.”
The last time he visited a hospital in Dubai was December 5th and he got a chest x-ray.
He was set to return to Dubai in January, but he was arrested on December 29th.
Tate along with his brother, Tristan Tate, and two female accomplices were arrested on allegations of rape, human trafficking and setting up an organized crime group.
Andrew Has Maintained His Innocence
Andrew has maintained his innocence since being arrested on December 29, 2022. He’s also been vocal on Twitter since entering police custody.
It’s unclear how he’s getting access to social media or if he has someone on the outside tweeting in his honor.
The Tate brothers’ lawyers released a statement about their February 21st court appearance.
“If the solution is unfavorable, we will certainly challenge it,” Eugen Vidineac said. “If until now we analyzed and reanalyzed the evidence administered in the case until this moment, today we insisted on the fact that the grounds that were had when taking the measure of preventative arrest disappeared, ceased. Through the efficiency of the defense, we say that we have effectively paralyzed the evidence administered until now in the case, so that the grounds have ceased, and the new grounds are not likely to lead to an extension of the measure of preventative detention.”
It's apparent the statement was made prior to the court’s decision to keep the Tate brothers in detention for another 30 days.
