Gymnast Nastia Liukin had to shelter in place during the storm and found refuge in her closet.

Gymnast Nastia Liukin Shows Off Her Impressive Shoe Collection As She Shelters In Place In Her Closet!
In her latest Instagram post, the 2008 Olympic all-around champion posed for a selfie wearing a black denim jacket and shimmering pink lip gloss. She is sitting in front of a rack of long-sleeve shirts, but fans were more interested in her shoe collection.
On the walls behind her, fans can see that she has color-coded her shoes, which feature an impressive array of colorful heels. The top shelf looks as though it’s comprised of entirely pink heels, while the row below it has red, orange, and yellow heels. The next row is yellow and green, the row before that is blue and purple, while the bottom three rows seem to comprise shoes that are brown, silver, and black.
“Well, on the upside you were able to shelter in place with your beautiful shoes! I am in awe!” one fan commented alongside a heart-eye emoji. “I need your closet, my friend!” another follower agreed. “Shoe/closet goals,” a third fan chimed in. “Oh so scary with $75,000 worth of shoes. I cannot even imagine,” another user wrote, to which Nastia replied with a “🙄” emoji.
Nastia Shelters In Place With Her Puppy In Her Closet 'Mid Tornado Warning'
In the second slide of her Instagram carousel, Nastia pushed her puppy’s face in front of the camera. Although Nastia appears to be smiling in the frame, her dog looks a lot more nervous about the storm than she seems to be!
In the caption, Nastia wrote, “grwm, mid tornado warning, in my closet. The warning is over now - and we are safe… but still storming like crazy over here. hoping everyone else in Dallas is staying safe.”
One fan replied, “I had to drive home in it. Couldn’t keep my car still to save my butt. All good on the home front now.” Another follower shared, “I’m in Rockwall, it wasn’t too bad over here. Glad your safe I know it was worse closer to downtown.” Other users encouraged Nastia to stay indoors and stay safe!

Only one day before the storm, the five-time Olympic medalist took to Instagram to share a whole Instagram carousel from the 14th annual Nastia Cup, which was held last Friday night in Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.
The event, which is a collaboration between Nastia and the USA Gymnastics organization, was first announced on August 11, 2009 and gives the country’s top Junior Olympic gymnasts one of their first competitive opportunities.
All gymnasts who competed received a leotard designed by Nastia Liukin herself, two tickets to the American Cup, and an opportunity to meet Nastia herself and take a team photo. It looks like the team photo is the second-to-last slide of the Instagram carousel.
In the caption, Nastia wrote, “year 14, thank you, it was certainly one for the books… #nastiacup • to my small but mighty group / ride or dies, THANK YOU… for getting me thru and a HUGE shoutout to @christynaik who doesn’t take any credit but deserves it ALL (don’t have a single pic on my phone with you) but THANK YOU for making this happen, year after year… forever grateful.”
Plenty of fans had nothing but positive things to say about Nastia’s latest gymnastics competition. Although the event is no longer televised, fans were still able to watch along at home through the live stream on their YouTube page.
“I was literally showing my 12-year-old gymnast the pictures and videos from the meet, and now it's her goal to attend one day! Thank you for being such an amazing human being and for spotlighting these amazing gymnasts!” one fan commented. “You are a positive force in a lot of lives. Thank you for being you,” another follower agreed.
