Chris Pine is telling everyone to take a chill pill when it comes to “Spitgate 2022.”
The “Don’t Worry Darling” actor is setting the record straight about what actually happened between him and Harry Styles at the Venice Film Festival.
Chris Pine Speaks Out About "Spitgate 2022"

It does look like the singer let’s out a little bit of something and Pine’s reaction screams “WTF.”
It was all very insane, bizarre and unexpected. Twitter absolutely lost it over this 11-second clip!
In the days following the video going viral, both Pine and Styles spoke out about it.
A rep for Pine told People, the video is creating unnecessary drama.
"This is a ridiculous story — a complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation,” the statement read. “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist."
Styles jokingly addressed it during one of his Madison Square shows.
In a now deleted video from Twitter, Styles said, “This is our 10th show at Madison Square Garden, it is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back here,” the British singer told his fans while opening the show. “I just popped over to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but fear not, we’re back!”
Chris Pine Says Harry Told Him A "Little Joke"
Despite both actors speaking out about it, fans didn’t buy it.
Pine told Esquire, “Harry did not spit on me. Harry is a very kind guy.”
He admitted the interaction, which did not involve spit, did come off as incriminating.
“I think Harry leaned down and said, ‘It’s just words isn’t it?’” Pine recalled.
He said that the singer leaned down to tell him “a little joke.”
Pine added, “We were all jet lagged and trying to answer questions. And sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes befuddled and you start speaking gibberish, so we had a joke: ‘It’s just words.’”
"It's Just Words"
The press tour for ‘DWD’ was fraught with drama given Wilde’s relationship with Styles and an alleged feud between her and actress Florence Pugh.
Styles and Wilde met on the set of ‘DWD’ while the she was still with long-time partner, Jason Sudeikis.
Things between the ex-couple, who share two children together, came to an abrupt end in November 2020.
The “Ted Lasso” star admitted he didn’t even have a clear understanding about the end of their relationship at the time Wilde and Styles were spotted holding hands at Styles’ friend’s wedding.
Wilde and Styles’ whirlwind romance not only rocked Sudeikis, but it reportedly pissed off one of their co-stars.
A source told Page Six that Styles’ on-screen wife in ‘DWD,’ Pugh, was by no means happy with Wilde and the singer hooking up.
“I can tell you for a fact that Flo [Pugh] seeing Olivia and Harry all over each other on set did not go down well as Olivia was still with Jason when she first hooked up with Harry,” an insider told the outlet.
At the time of Wilde and Sudeikis’ split, sources claimed her affair with the former One Direction member had been going on for at least a month, in turn leaving the ‘SNL’ alum “distraught.”
“Jason and the kids visited Olivia on set at the beginning a few times, so I think this all made people feel a little uncomfortable,” the insider claimed.
Fans and internet sleuths alike noticed that Pugh didn’t give one of Wilde’s post a “like” on social media. Pugh’s actions or lack thereof raised even more eyebrows, because the post was the official trailer for their movie.
Wilde followed that up by posting a photo of Pugh with the comment: “Watching this woman work was such a f**king thrill! Cannot wait to show you more. @florencepugh@dontworrydarling.”
That same day, Pugh posted about another project she was working on, “Oppenheimer.”
While things between Pugh and Wilde seem to be rocky, the “Little Women” actress has had nothing but great things to say about Styles.
While attending the blue carpet for the opening of a Tiffany and Co. in London, she praised her co-star’s professionalism.
Pugh said he was “a total professional and it was a great experience working together.”
Once again, she had nothing to say about Wilde as a director and co-star.
