They say music heals the soul and Morgan Evans knows plenty about how that feels!
The Australian country singer has always been known for his heartfelt and honest music. After going through a divorce from his ex-wife Kelsea Ballerini, the songwriter candidly talked about how he has been baring his mind through his music to help him heal.
Morgan Evans On Using Music To Share Honesty
The star opened up about how he's been channeling his feelings into his music and turning his struggles into heartfelt lyrics. He shared that his new docuseries titled "Morgan Evans - Over for You," which has been released, is a five-part exploration of his creative process.
The Australian artist took fans behind the scenes of his CMC Rocks performance, where he debuted his song "Over for You" about his divorce from Ballerini. The first episode, titled "The Return," saw him saying how he connected to so many people who could relate to what he was going through after he performed the emotional song.
Off the stage, he stated, "I did not know i was going to feel this I played it at CMC Rocks, but I felt a weight off my chest." He then added, "I felt like I told it in the most honest, real, and most positive way possible. It's the only song I've written since going through all this sh*t. It felt like channeling all that sort of awfulness into something positive."
The series captured highlights from his Australian tour, including his emotional performances, interactions with fans, and travels back home to spend time with family. The 37-year-old described love as a "weird thing" as he reflected on some of the good times in his relationship. He stated:
"you don't ever want to go back in timeā¦ but there are different stages of life where you can take the positive or at least acknowledge the positive things in different parts right now. Maybe I'm trying to do that right now. Yeah, coming here helps."
Footage from his time back home with his family showed him having fun with his loved ones, especially his nieces. By the final episode, the "Things That We Drink To" singer sat at the beach and tried to detail his progress so far.
He explained why they played the song "Young Again" every night of the tour, saying, "I always try to look at everything in a very positive way. I don't see any point in looking at it in any other way. I've learned more recently that you need to feel things, and you need to take a second to sit in things and experience them and not to sort of brush over them."
Finally, he concluded, "Considering everything, I've got a long way to go, but I'm a long way from where I was three weeks ago. One day at a time, that's all you can hope for. Just super grateful to be in this moment."
'Kiss Somebody' Singer Speaks Out Against Ex-wife's Comment On Their DivorceĀ
The star expressed his disappointment over what he heard his former partner say in the released trailer for her new podcast episode and her emotional EP titled "Rolling Up the Welcome Mat." Per The Blast, the 29-year-old spoke about their divorce and their marriage.
In a statement, Evans called the "Miss Me More" singer out for allegedly not telling the whole truth and asked fans not to be unkind to her. The former couple filed for divorce in August 2022 and settled two months later, and while the older singer remained relatively quiet about the split, she has since been linked to actor Chase Stokes.
The short message read, "It's really sad for me to see this person, who I spent so much of my life with, and loved with all my heart, saying things that aren't reality and that leaves out what really happened. She knows I'm not the type of guy to speak on those things publicly."
He wrote, "If this is what she needs to heal, I hope it helps. All I ask is that if you're on my pages, please don't be mean. Don't be mean to Kelsea, don't be mean to each other. Life's too short."
