Kristin Evans Shares Her Beliefs

“Jail does not offer resources needed for mental health patients. It is not rehabilitative. The jail and prison system is a punishment in an authoritarian society made to oppress,” she opens her message.

“I didn’t advocate for jail because of the lack of resources, the lack of rehabilitation, the lack of education for mental health, and the psychological effect it may have on our son, having already developed a relationship with his father.”

In the same message, Kristin addressed the inevitable haters for her personal choice. “So please give me some grace in understanding that I’m not being easy on Zac, rather I am trying to protect our son from anymore trauma.”

She adds. “Nothing is black and white and not every abuser is the same. People who are willing to put in work to be better, deserve an opportunity to show that they can be better. Especially with a diagnosable mental illness and significant head trauma caused by Football.”

Kristin also spoke about the situation in the accompanying video she assured those who are listening that she posted the video initially because Zac wasn’t remorseful and felt he needed to learn a lesson.

Zac was recently sentenced to 6 months in prison for the 2021 incident but what he actually wanted was a mental health facility to continue his recovery journey. Kristin shared that it was Zac who choose to seek mental health help, it was he who sought out how he was wrong in this incident, and it was he who realized on his own how much he had lost in a split second.
