Demi Lovato's Little Sis Madison De La Garza Reveals Struggles With Substances

Demi Lovato’s baby sister has revealed that she struggled with substance abuse and is celebrating a major sobriety goal.

The 21-year-old used her TikTok to share the amazing news that she hasn’t touched any substances in the last 230 days. A hard task but the accomplishment surely feels amazing. She used the ‘ancestors’ trend to reveal the great news.

In essence, she is telling her ancestors of her sobriety and knowing they are proud of how strong-willed she has been. The trend is to have someone in present-day reveal something to their ancestors. Its normally positive and an accomplishment of some kind.

Madison, revealed her sobriety but others have revealed things like graduation after struggling, a baby after a handful of miscarriages, and even one where an abused dog found their forever home.

Madison captioned the video, “I know they're proud #recoveryispossible.” She appears with the ends of her hair dyed blue and very minimal makeup. In case you forgot, Madison appeared in Desperate Housewives as a child playing Eva Longoria’s daughter.

In the TikTok trend she banters back and forth with her “ancestors” and is visually proud of her accomplishment. She received a lot of love in the comments from dedicated fans and family, including her pleased mum.

Dianna De La Garza the mom of Madison and Demi along with one other sibling, Dallas Lovato commented, “This is the cutest video ever!! Your cute smile!! So proud of you!!???.”

Other had no idea what Madison was going through. “I had no idea her sister struggled with addiction as well. this is an AMAZING victory ❤.”

And some felt inspired to share their own stories. “It’ll be 10 years in May. It’s so possible ? Congratulations!” many who shared sobriety stories got a comment back from Madison supporting their continued recovery.

The actress hasn’t shared much about her substance abuse of her recovery, so this is a rare treat. The last time she gave insight into her sobriety was a few weeks before this video where she revealed that cannabis isn’t on her roster anymore either.

So safe to say, she isn’t “California sober”, she’s all the way sober. In the TikTok post she uses the ‘I’m Quitting’ trend, it is meant to predict what you are quitting next. For Madison, it was weed.

And the timeframe was “7 seconds” the trend was half right, she shared that she quit quite some time ago and since she is sober 7 seconds was kind of right! She captioned the sweet video, “Too late… quit 206 days ago and I couldn’t be happier ? #recoveryispossible.”

The singer has had her own struggles and even shared that in 2018, she had “three strokes, a heart attack, and now has brain damage.” The 30-year-old revealed the shocking news in her 2021 documentary, Dancing With The Devil, the Cool For The Summer.

“I was left with brain damage, and I still deal with the effects of that today. I don't drive a car because I have blind spots in my vision.” Demi and her sis are close so they can definitely lean on one another for mutual support.
