Jesy Nelson could be the next person in line to be asked to perform at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony in May.
At least, that’s what the internet is saying!
This hilarious rumor has gained traction online due to Adele and Ed Sheeran turning down offers to perform at the ceremony.
Adele, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles & More Have Declined Coronation Invites
OK! Magazine reported that the British singers declined invitations to perform at a concert on May 7th following the coronation.
According to a royal insider, the King was “very keen” that the pair perform as part of the celebration.
Multiple other British singers including Harry Styles, Elton John, and The Spice Girls were asked to perform, but also reportedly declined to perform.
Since so many people have rejected the performance offer, the Twitterverse has been abuzz about what other (not as famous) British singers could potentially be asked to perform.
Twitter Trolls Jesy Nelson About Possibly Performing At Coronation
“Watch Jesy Nelson ending up at the Coronation,” one person wrote.
“Imagining Jesy Nelson and Liam [Payne] at the coronation and I can’t stop laughing. Imagine strip that down,” another noted.
“Jesy Nelson's solo career hasn't exactly taken off. I predict Little Mix will regroup with Jesy Nelson as part of their group again. They will perform at the Coronation concert, & King Charles will appear in a special pre-rec segment with them where they sing Shout Out To My Ex,” someone else joked.
There’s no truth to this wild rumor as of now.
Also, what songs would Jesy even perform? She’s no longer a member of Little Mix, so she most likely wouldn’t be able to perform any of their songs.
Her 2021 solo EP, “Boyz,” was a massive flop and she hasn’t released any new music since.
Earlier this year, she posted about persisting through challenges.
Nelson took to posting cryptic and inspirational quotes to her Instagram Story in January.
One quote read, “ONE OF THE MOST COMMON CHARACTERISTICS OF ANY SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL IS THEIR ABILITY AND WILLINGNESS TO PERSIST THROUGH CHALLENGES.”
Jesy's Solo Career Hasn't Taken Off Like She Had Hoped It Would
The quote was from Roxie Nafousi.
It’s no secret that Nelson has had to overcome several challenges throughout her career in the spotlight.
She rose to fame on “The X Factor UK” in 2011 alongside Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall.
They would go on to become one of the BIGGEST British girl groups since the Spice Girls. They formed Little Mix.
Unfortunately, Nelson, her weight and appearance became the target of intense public scrutiny during her time with Little Mix.
She helped pioneer a 2019 BBC documentary titled, “Odd One Out.”
“Little Mix star Jesy Nelson goes on a journey of rehabilitation as she opens up about abuse she has suffered at the hands of cyberbullies and its effects on her mental health, the description reads.
Nelson attempted to commit suicide during her time in Little Mix.
She detailed the experience on Fearne Cotton’s “Happy Place” podcast.
“I went into hospital and then I had a music video like a week after...,” she said. “And obviously my mum found out and she was distraught and she was outright like, ‘This is it, you’re not doing this anymore.’ Because my mum’s the kind of mum that’s like, ‘Jes, we couldn’t give a s*** what you do as long as you’re happy. That’s all I care about.’ So, she was like, ‘No. This isn’t happening anymore. I’m putting my foot down and you’re coming out of this.’”
Nelson revealed the attempt occurred during the early years of being in Little Mix.
“I didn’t know what to do at the time because it was the very early stages of Little Mix,” she admitted.
She left the group in December 2020 and launched her solo career in early 2021.
It’s clear, Nelson is extremely happy with her decision to jump ship from the girl group.
She shared another quote from Osho Pranaam which read, “Respect yourself, love yourself, because there has never been a person like you and there never will be again.”
This lends itself to how far she has come in her mental health journey since forming Little Mix and getting out of the group.
