Republican Rep Pushing To Reinstate Firing Squads, Too Many Bodies Crowding Death Row

Rep. Bruce Skaug, a Republican state congressman just introduced legislation last week in Idaho that will reintroduce death by firing squad.
Line Em’ All Up, Says Bruce Skaug
The olden day, brutal way to die is the rep’s resolution to having too many people on death row. Don’t go all crazy just yet, the firing squad will only be if lethal injection chemicals are unattainable in a decent amount of time.
The timeframe he is giving his new bill would be five days. So, if the lethal injection drugs are not available within five days of the sentence order, than they aren’t going to delay because comforting death drugs aren’t available.
They’d rather line em’ up and shoot em’ down.
New bill in Idaho spearheaded by Rep. Bruce Skaug could have Bryan Kohberger facing a firing squad — if the accused Idaho killer is found guilty.
The bill was introduced because Idaho has been unable to procure the drugs needed for lethal injections.

Why Is A Firing Squad An Option
Lately, with the pandemic and all being such a damper on life, the medical field has taken a hit, in particular, life-saving drugs and staples that hospitals rely on and even over-the-counter medication took a hard hit.
Apparently, the drug mixture needed for the lethal dose is hard to get ahold of in Idaho and this is the best solution they gave come up with so far. Skaug is pressed that there are way too many people sitting on death row avoiding the time to make their maker.
Plus, with more people going in and no one going out, they are taking up space, federal funding, and all the money-related issues that are likely behind this decision. Skaug isn’t too hung up on the details.
He will be fine with the logistics as long as the government comes up with a way to make it work! Mississippi, Utah, and Oklahoma still have a firing squad as an option if lethal injection is unobtainable, and while they have never had to run out of drugs, the option is there and the pandemic is making the opportunity a possibility.
Idaho Has 8 Death Row Inmates
There are currently 8 inmates who are awaiting their lethal injections. All for horrific murders involving more than one person and some of the inmate’s convictions include rape. There is also an alarming amount of out the 8 who have murdered their own family members.
They say you always hurt the ones closest to you but that is a bit much, wouldn’t you agree? The oldest conviction goes back to 1983, it’s Thomas Creech, who received his conviction while in lock up for another crime, he beat a fellow inmate to death.
The newest member of the Idaho death row bunch is Jonathan Daniel Renfro, who was convicted in 2017 of 1st-degree murder for shooting a police officer. So, as you can see, these are pretty messy people.
Renfro might not be the new kid on the block for much longer, Idaho serial killer Bryan Kohberger who murdered four college students is likely to get a 1st-degree murder conviction and be sentenced to death.
If this is the case, he will be the new kid on the block and there. No question there are a lot of people who would like to see him get lined up.
