Before the pardon, Wayne was in a very bad situation with his legal case. In December, he plead guilty to illegally possessing a loaded weapon. This was regarding a December 2019 incident where a gold-plated Remington 1911, .45-caliber handgun loaded with six rounds of ammunition was found on a private jet that he was on.

This was located at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport on the 23rd of that month. Wayne was scheduled to be sentenced on March 3. This wasn't the first gun case for him as back in 2009, he was convicted of a felony for gun possession from a 2007 incident.
