Louis Tomlinson Speaks On Being Envious Of Harry Styles' Solo Success

English singer and former member of One Direction, Louis Tomlinson, has openly admitted that he wasn't happy with Harry Styles' solo success after their band broke up.

Tomlinson and Styles were members of the popular boy band One Direction, along with Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Niall Horan. However, the group disbanded in 2016, and Tomlinson has now admitted that he was jealous of Styles' success.

The singer also recently discussed the possibility of a reunion amongst the group while distancing himself from Styles' controversial Grammy acceptance speech, choosing not to defend him.

The "Just Hold On" singer had a shocking revelation about the state of his heart after the popular boyband, One Direction, disbanded in 2016.

According to Daily Mail, Tomlinson admitted that he was envious of Harry Styles' success as a solo artist, noting that the group members secretly thought Styles' would be the most successful of them all.

Styles indeed has enjoyed a tremendous rise in fame since splitting from the group in 2016, winning several Grammy awards and recording two number 1 albums.

"Well, it's not a surprise, is it? We were always aware that Harry fit that mould, and it's been an amazing thing to watch," he shared with The Times.

"Envy? At the start maybe, when I was trying to find my feet, but it's never healthy to cross-reference your own success with others is it? These days I'm learning to elevate myself in those moments when I have to. I didn't know how to do that before, but now. Now I know I f**king can," he added.

Tomlinson, 31, maintained a neutral stand on the controversial state of Styles' recent Grammy award acceptance speech.

The "As It Was" singer was slammed by fans for his acceptance speech in which he said "people like me" don't win Grammy awards.

One fan wrote, "I wasn't going to get mad about the Grammy artist of the year bc I think Harry styles is a lil qt pie but then I heard the acceptance speech 'this doesn't happen to guys like me.' guys like what? Do you mean conventionally attractive 6ft tall cis white men?? aren't handed awards???"

A second fan noted, "Harry Styles, a cishet white man…… got up on stage at the biggest award show in the world and said 'this doesn't happen to people like me .'How tone-deaf could you possibly be, I would really like to know what he meant by that."

Styles' fans have since come out in their troops to defend him, saying he was referring to growing up in a humble background and how he's had to fight his way to the top.

Tomlinson said of style's acceptance speech, "Only Harry knows what he means there, it's hard to speculate. But we all came from relatively humble beginnings, and now we are where we are."

For what it's worth to fans, the singer may have left a glimmer of hope for a possible reunion of the One Direction group.

"Getting back together at some point is hard to imagine right now," the singer noted, per Daily Mail. "I'd be surprised if we lived out our lives and didn't have a moment where we had a reunion, or whatever you want to call it. I'd be up for that."

Tomlinson maintained his stand on the issue as he shared in a 2022 appearance on ITV's "Lorraine" that it would be shameful if they didn't reunite.

He was asked about the possibility of a reunion amongst the former bandmates, to which he replied that he hoped it would happen one day.

"There's a lot of moving parts but it would be a shame if we didn't," Tomlinson noted before stating that he hoped a reunion ensues.

The singer, who hardly reveals details about his private life, was recently spotted with a new blonde after his break up with his long-term girlfriend, Eleanor Calder, per Mirror.

According to the news outlet, Tomlinson was seen packing on the PDA with a Danish blonde, Sofie Nyvang, in Los Angeles as they stepped out for a walk. He wore a Black Sabbath shirt and beige chinos, completing the look with white sneakers.

The "Don't Let It Break Your Heart" crooner split from Eleanor Calder after five years together in January. The pair first met in 2011 and dated until 2015 before separating. They picked it up again in 2017 and were together until 2023.
