Singer JoJo To Make Her Broadway Debut In ‘Moulin Rouge’

Singer JoJo, born Joanna Noëlle Levesque, is best known for her 2004 hit song “Leave” and her 2006 single “Too Little, Too Late.”

On Thursday, the 32-year-old singer and actress took to Instagram to share the news that she was ready to take the stage and make her Broadway debut in "Moulin Rogue."

On Thursday, the "Baby It's You" singer took to Instagram to share the good news with her 2.5 million Instagram followers. "Truth. Beauty. Freedom. Love," she wrote in the caption. "So I can’t believe I’m finally able to say this… I’m making my Broadway debut in MOULIN ROUGE!!!"

"When I first saw this musical I fell instantly head over heels in love. I watched from the edge of my seat, hanging onto every word of every song," she explained. "This show is a full on feast for the senses and the opportunity to play Satine feels like the culmination of so many dreams. I cannot believe I get to join this phenomenal cast and company!!!! You guys blow me away!!!"

JoJo also sent her "love and respect" to actress Ashley Loren, who, in her words, "currently SLAYS as Satine." She described Ashley as "theee most incredible bad--- singer actress artist i’m lucky to call friend and experience her sisterhood and generosity of spirit."

Ashley will continue to play Satine until April 9, 2023. JoJo will take over as Satine on April 11, 2023, and conclude her 14-week run on July 16, 2023, at the Al Hirschfeld Theater.

"Thank you to the amazing producers and directorial staff for believing in me like you do. Performing on Broadway and living in NYC?! This is all a dream come true," JoJo wrote. "I know this show means so much to so many and I promise to put all I have into every single night as Satine."

She capped off her Instagram post with the quote: “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return...”

Many fans and famous friends were quick to offer her messages of congratulations. “Congratulations, love! This is amazing!” one fan commented. “Omggggggf!!! This is the coolest thing ever. I can’t wait to see you as Satine,” another follower wrote. “Ahhhh this is soo friggin amazing! Break a leg!” a third fan chimed in.

“Jojo! I am so excited for you! First of all, I know you are going to be spectacular in the role! With your incredible voice and passion, you will truly shine!" another follower gushed. "I’m also really thrilled for the show having you in it because the audiences are going to be amazed and will leave having had a GREAT theatrical experience!"

In addition to starring on Broadway, the "Save My Soul" singer has also taken on another surprising entrepreneurial venture: candle making. In a recent Instagram post from earlier this month, JoJo revealed one of her new limited edition candles available for sale.
