Camila Cabello is celebrating another win!
The singer first gained attention when she competed on the American version of "The X Factor" in 2013. Although she was initially booted off from the show, the organizers brought her back with four other female contestants to create the group, Fifth Harmony.
Three years later, she became a worldwide sensation with her solo career, making hit singles "Havana" and "Crying in the Club." Since then, she has earned numerous accolades and new opportunities, with the latest being an acting gig in the upcoming Robert Peace biopic "Rob Peace."
Camila Cabello Joins The Cast Of The Late Robert Peace Biopic
Cabello is gearing up to wow in her second acting gig following her titular portrayal in Amazon Prime Video's 2021 musical romance, "Cinderella." The singer has signed on to appear in the biopic alongside bigwigs like actor Jay Will, singer-songwriter Mary J. Blige, and actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who will also be in the director's chair.
As reported by Deadline, the "Rob Peace" project, which is already in development, will tell the story of the late Yale graduate who doubled as a cancer researcher and a six-figure marijuana dealer before his gruesome 2011 murder during a drug raid.
To that end, Cabello will portray the role of Peace's fellow student Naya, with Ejiofor and Blige as his onscreen father and mother. The film is based on the bestselling 2014 biography, "The Short and Tragic Life of Robert Peace: A Brilliant Young Man Who Left Newark for the Ivy League," written by Jeff Hobbs.
So far, Antoine Fuqua, Kat Samick, Andrea Calderwood, Jeffrey Soros, Rebecca Hobbs, Simon Horsman, Jenny Lumet, and Alex Kurtzman are slated to produce the film. Blige, Morgan Earnest, Luke Rodgers, Jeff Skoll, Bruce Evans, Robert Kessel, and Jamin O'Brien will executive produce the soon-to-be-released project.
As for Cabello, her debut work in "Cinderella" earned her a nomination in the fan-favorite category of the 2022 Oscars, per The Blast. Although the ceremony's organizers, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, created the category to be more inclusive while attracting a younger audience, many have frowned against it.
The initial reaction might have to do with the negativity that "Cinderella" garnered after its final trailer was released. Upon its full release, it received even more pessimism from viewers and film critics, earning a 4.3 rating from IMDb. The fan favorite award was eventually won by Zack Snyder's zombie action film, "Army of the Dead."
The 'That's My Girl' Hitmaker Is Off Dating Apps After Her First Failed Attempt
The Blast shared an insight into Cabello's love life following the end of her relationship with the musical hunk Shawn Mendes. The pair, who dated for nearly three years, had caused some controversy, with many alleging that they were attempting to form a love connection for publicity.
After they broke up in November 2021, Cabello was romantically linked with Austin Kevitch after they were seen engaging in public displays of affection during a breakfast date late last year. Although her rumored beau is the creator of the Lox Club dating app, Jewish Raya, the "Work from Home" hitmaker disclosed that she was no fan of dating apps after giving it the good old try.
"I was on a dating app for like 24 hours; then I left. The first guy that DM'd me was like [an] aspiring singer-songwriter from Nashville, and I was just like, I feel weird cause somebody could be using me. You don't know their intentions," the "Worth It" singer explained.
Cabello then emphasized that she preferred to meet guys the old-fashioned way, stating, "When you are just trying to make friends, you're gonna meet guys that are vetted by your friends, which is amazing." At the time she and Mendes broke up, they issued a statement that read in parts:
"Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship, but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward."
Mendes has since been rumored to be dating Dr. Jocelyne Miranda, a 51-year-old with a background in biomechanics, biodynamics, and soft tissue. The pair reportedly met during the "Stitches" singer's 2018/2019 tour.
