Model Aoki Lee Simmons shared a sweet photo of her with her boyfriend for Valentine's Day on Instagram and what came next shocked many, including Simmons.
This was the first time the model shared a photo of her boyfriend on social media, and some people had some terrible things to say about the interracial couple. Some even went so far as to stalk her boyfriend's information. Simmons took to her Instagram Stories to share her thoughts on the unfortunate situation.
Aoki Lee Simmons Responded To Rude Comments From People Online
When Simmons posted a happy photo of her and her boyfriend on Instagram, she probably didn't expect people to comment the way they did. And she surely didn't expect people to start stalking her boyfriend online.
In since-deleted Instagram Story slides, she explained the unfortunate events that have been happening. "I've been in the public eye my whole life," she began. "No I did not think 100s of people would info stalk my boyfriend's family down to distant relatives, put his work and basic privacy and safety at risk, or start horrendous threads with private pictures of his deceased parent who he still grieving. His siblings and family. It's not just normal social media hate at all."
Her Story continued to explain that while this type of behavior may have been going on for a while, it was a "concerning Google alert" that made it more real. "Maybe this was always out there about me and I never saw it, but he got a concerning Google alert because IT'S NOT NORMAL. I'm genuinely devastated he had to see that. It's not the f*** ok."
Some People Commented Negatively On Aoki Lee Simmons' Instagram Post
There were some concerning comments focusing on race on Simmons' Valentine's Day post. "Ma’am is that a white man," one person wrote. Another added, "Wish he was black… In 3 generations your black roots will be completely washed away and forgotten. FACTS." Another person added, "Sis, a white man? have you even explored what love with a Black man is like?"
But it wasn't all about race. Some people had some harsh opinions to add regarding age. "Is that your grandfather?," one person wrote. "He looks old any how this man is over 35 red flaggggg I know we ain’t close in age and I am 31," another wrote.

Simmons has a loyal following and many stepped in to leave their comments on the situation and unnecessary rude comments and assumptions. "…and here come everyone’s opinions about who she chooses to love. Sometimes human beings are predictable in the saddest of ways. Let this woman be happy," one follower wrote.
"Y'all are some haters. I see people saying he looks old and bringing up his race. Grow up and worry about your own dating life," another wrote.
One follower said it exactly how it is, "All these grown women making such negative, uncalled, and toxic comments. So disappointing. No wonder she didn't want to show any pictures of him. Get a life and stop being so bitter and toxic."
Simmons' content is down-to-earth, relatable and informational. She has many loyal followers on Instagram and TikTok where shares a lot of her personal life, from modeling jobs to being a Harvard University student to dealing with an autoimmune disorder and ADHD, and this shift in the usual positive comments took her by surprise.
"And I had no idea because within my page it's mild and mostly positive. (Thank you guys for that) but I guess outside of it the world, people I haven't done anything to or harmed at all are just horrendously bitter and racist," she wrote.
And while this was an upsetting reminder that some people have no problem spreading hateful opinions, Simmons isn't likely going to let it get her down. She's already shared a TikTok video talking about race in her usual light-hearted way. See video HERE.
