“Bachelorette” alum Blake Moynes was visiting Africa to fight for endangered species when he suddenly came down with a bad infection. Due to the severity of the infection, Moynes was hospitalized and had to undergo surgery.

“I just got a call from Blake. I don’t hear from him very often [because he’s been] in Africa for about a month and he doesn’t have cell service,” Blake’s mother, Emily, wrote on social media at the time. “But he is down there fighting the poachers, saving the rhinos and elephants and doing what he absolutely loves. He is so passionate about that sort of stuff.”

“Four days ago, he called and said he had a really bad infection that had been treated,” Emily continued to explain.

Moynes's mother, Emily Moynes, took to Instagram Stories on Friday, February 17, sharing a video of her son walking through the front door of his Canada home.

His three dogs were ecstatic to see him back home as they jumped up on him and smothered the "Bachelorette" alum with kisses.

Moynes reposted his mother's video to his own Instagram, writing, "Home, off crutches, my dogs, my bed."

A few weeks ago, after the news broke that Moynes had suffered an infection and was admitted into the hospital in Africa, a rep for Moynes spoke to E! News, explaining, “Blake has been working and training in South Africa with anti-poaching units where [he] developed a severe infection. He’s being recently treated with great medical care and just completed surgery yesterday. We are awaiting confirmation that things are fully on the right track in the coming days. He is being monitored closely and once he is able to come home safely, he will be.”

Blake’s mother at the time also went on to explain how the 32-year-old had to go through surgery due to the severity of the infection. “I want him to come home,” she wrote on social media before adding, “F*ck Blake, just come home. I know you love what you’re doing but you’re freaking me out.”

Emily is, of course, terrified and feels helpless as her son is facing this alone on another continent. “I am ready to get on the next flight to Africa,” she continued to say before adding, “Let’s say a prayer for Blake please.”

It is great to see Blake Moynes return home safely. Rest up, Blake.

Blake Moynes's Time In Bachelor Nation

Katie Thurston and Blake Moynes
ABC

Blake Moynes first appeared on the 16th season of “The Bachelorette,” but was eliminated in the ninth week. He returned to Katie Thurton‘s season, where he proposed to the lead, however, their engagement did not last long.

Just three months after Thurston‘s season aired, the two released a joint statement, writing, “It is with mutual love and respect that we have decided to go our separate way. We are so grateful for the moments we shared together and the entire journey that has unfolded this year, but we ultimately have concluded that we are not compatible as life partners, and it is the most caring choice for both of us to move forward independently.”

The two continued, “We ask for kindness and privacy as we both navigate this transition. Both of us will forever want the best for one another and ask you to please support us in our decision.”
