Lil Nas X's 'Old Town Road' With Billy Ray Cyrus Becomes Most Streamed Song Ever In US

Lil Nas Xhas been a superstar ever since his "Old Town Road" single became a hit in the spring of 2019. It was oddly taken off from the Billboard charts due to it supposedly not meeting the requirements to be a country record. 

He then stunned the world as he enlisted country legend, Billy Ray Cyrus, for the remix. This soon skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and has been a sensation among many music fans since.

Old Town Road has been shattering records and there is another impressive milestone that it reached on Wednesday. It is now the most streamed song in US history, according to Chart Data. This is after passing 2.933 billion on-demand streams. 

On YouTube, the music video for Old Town Road has reached almost  622 million views. This collaboration between Nas X and Billy Ray was definitely a unique one and its momentum doesn't appear to be slowing down two years later. 

Last week, Old Town Road also hit 14x platinum status. This is after selling 14 million units in the US. This mark made the single the highest certified track in RIAA history as well. 

Considering how big Old Town Road still is two years later, expect it to cross more platinum milestones in 2021 as well. In addition to the version with Billy Ray Cyrus in 2019, Nas X put out another remix that same year which also included Young Thug and Mason Ramsey. 

With Old Town Road continuing to surpass some amazing records, Nas X is still making major moves now as well. In December, he released his "Holiday" single in time for the holiday season and that's done very well, too. 

At this point, it has already been certified gold by the RIAA in the US. Many wondered what record he would put out in the aftermath of Old Town Road's success and now, Holiday has delivered ad met expectations over the last month. 

Nas X  has even more big plans for 2021 and that is to finally release his debut studio album. As of now, there is still no official title or release date finalized. Late last year, he labeled this project as going to be the "greatest album of all-time." 

His last project was his "7" EP in summer 2019. That posted great numbers as it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It is also platinum in the US.  "Panini" and "Rodeo" feat. Cardi B were other hit records on that EP.
