The highly anticipatedAshanti-Keyshia ColeVerzuz battle has unfortunately been postponed multiple times over the past month. This all started after Ashanti tested positive for COVID-19 on the day of the Verzuz on December 12.

The two were scheduled to be in the same room together as has been the case with artists who've participated since last summer.

A new date was set for January 9 but that didn't work either even with Ashanti receiving a negative test and everyone around her being healthy.

Verzuz began having artists in the same room together since the summer and this has brought a lot more excitement to these battles. Fans get live performances as artists aren't simply on separate screens anymore and just nodding their heads to songs like before.

This will change though until further notice as Verzuz explained on Instagram that artists will participate virtually due to the rise of COVID-19 cases. They are sticking to this plan despite having access to rapid testing.

Many bashed Ashanti after she tested positive for COVID-19 as they blamed her for traveling outside the US during the pandemic. She did reveal that testing was strict when she traveled and that she caught the virus from a family member that she hugged.

“Everyone that I went on the trip with has tested negative. They went from country to country; they went to Uganda so they have to continue to get tested. No one tested positive. I did not get it from traveling. I actually got it from a family member when I came home. I came home and I hugged a family member who ended up being positive."

Season 2 of Verzuz has been on since late November and it was kicked off with a legendary hit-for-hit battle between longtime rivals, Jeezy and Gucci Mane. They feuded for over 15 years but appeared to squash things that night as it ended with them performing their 2005 collab hit single, "So Icy."

They also hosted an after-party event at an Atlanta nightclub together that night. Exactly a month later, Bay Area legends, E-40 and too $hort, did a Verzuz together as it was a solid live-concert experience virtually as they performed their individual classic hits.
