Patrick Mahomes' hurt ankle has nothing on him!

Although the quarterback looked fit and ready to take on the Philadelphia Eagles during Sunday's Super Bowl, things took a turn when he hurt his right ankle. That injury turned out to be one of the most remarkable aspects of the game, as Mahomes' dedicated play led the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Championship, his second win in less than a month.

Barely three weeks after winning the AFC Championship after defeating the Cincinnati Bengals, the Kansas City Chiefs have become the Super Bowl Champions for 2023. The win did not come easy, as Mahomes aggravated his right ankle during the second quarter of his team's game against the Eagles.

The injury occurred when the opponent's linebacker —  T.J. Edwards — tackled the quarterback with less than two minutes left on the clock, impairing the high-ankle sprain he suffered in January again.

The 27-year-old slowly limped toward the sideline to nurse his pain with the help of standby trainers. He subsequently returned to the game to finish the first half and start the second half for the Eagles. He then left the field before halftime and Rihanna’s performance.

When Mahomes returned to the field, he seemed conscious about hiding his pain, jogging carefully during the rest of the game. Despite that, the quarterback who first injured his ankle during a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 21 carried the Chiefs on his back, throwing three touchdowns.

He also completed 21 of 27 passes for 182 yards, with the Chiefs' offense keeping off the field for large parts of the playoff. Mahomes' team not only won the Championship, but he also earned the Most Valuable Player award for his fantastic performance. During a postgame interview, the NFL pro stated:

"I told you all this week there's nothing that's going to keep me off that football field. I just want to shout out to my teammates; we challenge each other; it took everybody to win this football game. I won't say dynasty yet; we're not done!"

The Texas Tech Alum Welcomed A Second Child With His Wife In November 2022

When Patrick is not winning on the field, he is at home loving up on his adorable second child with his wife, Brittany. The pair, who have been together since 2011, announced last November that they had received another bundle of joy, making them a family of four.

The Blast noted that the announcement came with a pic of the onesie-clad newly born baby on a blanket bearing the family name, "Mahomes." Although most of the tot's upper body part is left out of the shot, a Cuban link chain with "Bronze" engraved on it also lay atop the blanket.

The post's caption featured the baby's name — Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III, date of birth — 11/28/22, and weight at birth — 7lbs 8oz. The comment section was quickly filled with congratulatory messages from loved ones, celebs, and fans, with many already planning a football future for him.

"We start in 5 years, Bronze," Bobby Stroupe wrote, while a fan declared, "Bronze Mahomes, you are a cowboy." A few others pointed out the shocking fact that Patrick and Brittany's child had arrived, considering that the latter  — and her bump — was seen rooting for her man at the Chief's game against the Los Angeles Rams the day before.

The sweet couple had initially announced the impending arrival of their baby boy in a joint Instagram post they shared last May. They had posed with their first child, daughter Sterling Skye, and an ultrasound image in some of the photos, which they captioned, "Round 2!"

The one-year-old held a sign with the words, "Big sister duties … coming soon." Patrick and Brittany upped the ante with the baby's gender reveal in June, with a clip showing them as they shot blue water from squirt guns, indicating that it was a boy.

Luckily, the imminent arrival of the boy did not affect their affection for their daughter, as they lavishly marked Sterling's first birthday. Patrick began with a post that read:

"My Ster Girl is ONE! I can't believe it. YOU, my sweet girl, deserve the world!! Your Daddy & I love you more & more every day; we can not wait to see where this life takes you & all the things you will conquer!"
