Singer Britney Spears and her husband, Iranian actor Sam Asghari, made headlines on Thursday when multiple sources reported that the 28-year-old actor had planned an intervention for his wife.

The 41-year-old pop star took to Instagram later that night to say "enough is enough" and tell her followers that she might hop off social media for a while until this cools down. However, multiple new reports surfaced on Friday morning alleging that an intervention may still be needed.

On Thursday morning, TMZ was the first to report the news that Britney's husband, Sam Asghari, was planning an intervention for the "Hold Me Closer" singer. Her manager had reportedly rented a house in the Los Angeles area where she would undergo medical treatment and counseling.

Although the intervention was supposed to happen on Tuesday, things got derailed when Britney became "somewhat aware" of the plan. Britney went to see a doctor herself, which reportedly "went well," but it seems the intervention is off.

Sam Asghari did not deny that there were plans for an intervention in place in a statement made to Access Hollywood. However, he made it clear that "invention did not occur."

“My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances,” he said, adding, “Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately.”

Despite Sam's calls for the speculation to stop, multiple sources have come forward to allege that Britney has "become increasingly erratic and volatile," which they allege is "the result of her mental illness and substance abuse."

Several insiders spoke to TMZ on Friday morning, alleging that "There is anger among those who believe an intervention is necessary." One source reportedly said that "The intervention was long overdue," adding that Britney "is very much a danger to herself and those around her. It's a ticking time bomb. Thank god somebody finally took some steps to do something about it."

"This is 2008 all over again. There is serious fear she is either going to die or kill someone. She is abusing caffeine, Adderall, and anything she can get her hands on," another insider claimed. "She is not taking her medication, which is essential to stabilize her mood, and is unknowingly trying to self-medicate with other substances, which is exacerbating her mental illness."

"I worry about waking up in the morning and feeling like I'm going to get a horrible phone call," a third source alleged. Yet another insider told the outlet, "She has unbelievable untreated trauma that with the help of therapists and specialists could put her in a much better place. An intervention is essential to make that happen."
