On Thursday night, Britney Spears took to Instagram to address rumors that her husband, Iranian actor Sam Asghari, was staging an intervention for her.
On Thursday morning, multiple outlets came forward to say that the 41-year-old pop star was struggling with her mental health and substance abuse. However, the "Hold Me Closer" singer said the reports made her sick to her stomach!
Britney Spears Claps Back At Intervention Reports: 'No Folks, It's Not 2007'
On Thursday night, the “Toxic” singer took to Instagram to share a cryptic post that read, “A state of gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency.”
In the caption, Britney reminded her followers that her stifling 13-year conservatorship, which lasted from February 2008 to November 2021 “has been over for almost a year.”
“It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died … I mean at some point enough is enough !!!” Britney began, possibly referring to a source that reportedly had “regular contact” with Britney.
This source reportedly told TMZ “I’m afraid she’s gonna die” amid claims that Britney is struggling with her mental health and substance abuse.
“I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well !!!” Britney went on. “I’m honestly not surprised at all … Again doing the best I can !!! Again, the conservatorship has been over for almost a year … No folks, it’s not 2007 … it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home !!!”
“I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room !!! As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read !!! All that love right back at ya !!!” Britney concluded.
Sam Asghari Is Reportedly Being As 'Supportive' As Possible
On Thursday, sources told PEOPLE that the former personal trainer “is being as supportive as possible,” given Britney’s situation. The couple tied the knot in June 2022 after six years of dating. However, other sources told the magazine that things are “very difficult” and “absolutely chaotic” around Britney right now.
"Everyone had hoped Britney could be convinced to seek treatment before things got any worse but they knew it wouldn't be easy," the source said. "She's been going through a lot and has been increasingly combative."
Another insider told the magazine that "Britney has been acting increasingly erratically and those around her have grown more concerned," adding, "She is often up all night, sleeps during [the] day, and has a lot of anger."
TMZ was the first to report that her manager had staged an intervention for her with the help of her husband. Sources told the outlet that Britney has been “flying off the handle” and concerned those around her with “erratic, volatile behavior.” Another insider claimed that Britney is “taking meds” that “hype her up” and “is not taking the medications that stabilize her.”
The outlet reported that her manager booked a rental house in Los Angeles for two months, where Sam was supposed to take an “unsuspecting Britney” to get medical treatment and counseling. However, the plan fell through when Britney became “somewhat aware” of the plan, the outlet claims.
That being said, the “Overprotected” singer apparently went to the doctor late Wednesday afternoon. The meeting reportedly “went well” but it’s unclear what the next steps are for Britney’s health.
It looks like Britney has decided that she might have to stop posting on Instagram to recover away from the public eye. She deactivated her Instagram account last month, which resulted in concerned fans calling local law enforcement officials to perform a welfare check on the singer.

“As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls. I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded,” Britney wrote on Twitter. “The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately.”
“This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media,” she continued. “During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward.”
