'Grease' is without a doubt one of the greatest musicals in the history of cinema or at least one of the founders of the genre with 'West Side Story'. Taking place in the 50s in the US, the film tells us the story of Sandy Olsson played by Olivia Newton-John, an Australian high school student who stays for summer vacation. She meets and fall in love with Danny Zuko, played by John Travolta, leader of the T-Birds gang. Unfortunately, she has to go back to Australia and their love is interrupted by that.

But plot twist, Sandy ends up staying in the US, and more than that, she is now in the same high school as Danny. And that's how the story really starts. However, we'll let you watch the movie if you haven't seen it yet. This film has launched many careers but particularly John Travolta's since it was one of his first big roles in the industry. Or at least, It's the one that made him famous. And in 2023, our not so young anymore actor decided to revive his Grease memories by playing in a parody for the Super Bowl.

Grease Mythical Scene Parody For T-Mobile

The 68 years old comedian pays tribute to two things in this video where he reinterprets the hit single, 'Summer Nights'. He pays tribute to 'Grease' and the song of course, but particularly to the late Olivia Newton-John.

Concerning the ad itself, there are a lot more things to say. First of all, John Travolta has similar clothing to what he was wearing when he was playing Danny Zuko in 'Grease'. Second of all, he is accompanied by Zach Braff and Donald Faison, the iconic duo from the 'Scrubs' sitcom, and they all sing about how much T-Mobile is better than the other operators. You can also see how much smile and energy he puts into that, even though he is still processing what happened two years ago. Because yes, this is the exact same scene he played with his wife in 1978.

The video has been published for only 24 hours and is already viral with more than 4 million views we know it is meant to continue to grow since this ad was made to be broadcasted during the Super Bowl, the most watched event every year in the US.

Another Reference And Social Medias Reaction

At the end of the video, John Travolta makes a special pose that is not from 'Grease' at all. And if you know the filmography of the actor, you know another film with him was released a year before 'Grease', and it was 'Saturday Night Fever'. He raises his hand exactly like on the 1977 poster, and It's amazing.

People reacted in many different ways to the ad. First of all, in the comment section, some people are just nostalgic about the sitcom 'Scrubs': "Dang, this just reminded me how much I miss Scrubs" and some other people even go further in the process, asking for a special event: "Scrubs revival please and make Travolta a guest star."
