Losing a friend is hard for anyone, and for “WWE” stars Nikki and Brie Bella, they were speechless to hear about the death of their colleague “AEW” wrestler Jon Huber.
Huber was also referred to as Dark Order, and reports confirmed that he died on Saturday at only 41. The WWE Superstars paid tribute to their colleague on Twitter by sharing their memories of him shortly after his wife Amanda broke the news of his passing.
Amanda broke the news of her husband’s death via Instagram as she shared that Huber had been struggling with a “non-COVID related lung issue” for the past months.
RIP Jon Huber
The disclosed health challenge explained Huber’s long absence from “AEW TV.” In the post, Amanda appreciated the “AEW” team, including Cody Rhodes, Matt and Nick Jackson, Tony Khan, and Kenny Omega for being the best team members.
She also thanked the Mayo Clinic for its holistic care of Huber over the past few weeks.
In the announcement, Amanda wrote that her heart was broken at the loss of her partner. She also wrote, “The world saw him as the amazing Brodie Lee, but he was my best friend, my husband and the greatest father you would ever meet.”
A Family Lost
The Bella twins remembered Huber as a great friend and father to his two lovely kids and sent their condolences to the Huber family, along with “love and prayer.”
The “AEW TV” also released an official statement, eulogizing Huber as a “very kind soul” and “thoughtful mentor” whose villainous role on TV was only a well-played charade.
The statement concluded that Huber was a rare gem in the wrestling family as he was well respected and loved by all. The promotion also added that Huber was a true family man, a love for his wife and kids evident to all.
Stand Up For The Champions
On Wednesday night, “AEW Dynamite” paid tribute to Huber a week after his death. Colleagues also remembered the wrestler in a select show dedicated to him.
For the tribute, Huber’s former tag team partner in WWE, Erik Rowan, made an emotional appearance. At the end of the heart-wrenching show, Huber’s son was invited to the ring and presented with the new “AEW TNT” Championship belt.
Huber earned the title after winning against Cody Rhodes in a match. President and CEO Tony Kahn of “AEW” concluded that Brodie Lee Jr. would hold the championship title for life.
Love And Honor
In the end, “AEW” made a video tribute highlighting Huber’s moment with friends and family and his colleagues in “AEW, and WWE.” Brodie Lee Jr. officially joined “AEW” in 2019 after a successful career in “WWE.”
During his time in “WWE,” Huber was a two-time SmackDown Tag Team Champion and an NXT Tag Team Champion. The “WWE” star was also an Intercontinental champion.
