It's been over 10 months now since hip-hop lost of its rising stars, Pop Smoke. The 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper was tragically shot and killed in a Hollywood Hills home on February 19 close to 4:30 AM PT. This came after the suspects found Smoke's location on a bag that he posted on Instagram. He didn't realize that the address was found on the front of it. Since then, four suspects have been charged with murder. Two of them have been listed as minors.

Smoke's Brother Discussed Final Conversation With Him To Taraji P. Henson

Smoke's brother, Obasi Jackson, has recently been speaking to Taraji P. Henson on her "Peace Of Mind With Taraji" show on Facebook Watch about his passing. In an upcoming episode, Obasi's final conversation with Smoke was discussed. During that time, the two were spending time with their mother.

"That weekend, right there, that Sunday, I had just seen him," said Jackson to Henson. "Me, my mom, and my brother just sat in a room and talked for hours, which had not happened in years. That last conversation was, okay, I know my brother loves me and he knows I definitely love him and he said that he loved me."

Obasi Also Spoke On How Black Men Should Be Allowed To Be Vulnerable In Expressing Pain

Jackson also emphasized to Henson how Black men should be allowed to be vulnerable in times like this or when experiencing pain in general.

"I'm pushing through it. I cry. I'm a firm believer that men, Black men too, should be vulnerable. Black men should be vulnerable and allow themselves to open up and show the world what they're feeling and who they truly are, because we've been suppressed, we've been locked up and that's where all these barbaric kinds of actions come from. My mind can't even grasp onto it sometimes. When does it stop? It's not just Pop Smoke. It's not just King Von. It's not just Nipsey [Hussle]."

Smoke's Posthumous Debut Album Reached No. 1 On Billboard 200

In July, Smoke's estate finally released his highly anticipated debut studio album, "Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon." This project was led by the "Make It Rain" single feat. Rowdy Rebel. Other hot records that emerged from the album are "For The Night" feat. Lil Baby and DaBaby, "The Woo" feat. 50 Cent and Roddy Ricch, "Mood Swigs" feat. Lil Tjay, "What You Know Bout Love," and "Something Special." The album went on to debut at No.1  on the Billboard 200 chart and has since been certified platinum by the RIAA in the US.

Smoke Will Appear In 'Boogie' Film In March 2021

In addition to his music career taking off, Smoke was also pursuing acting. Before his death, he landed a role in the upcoming film, "Boogie." This is directed by Eddie Huang as it tells the story of a basketball playing looking to get recruited by a top school. This athlete is Alfred "Boogie" Chin. Smoke plays the role of his rival, Monk. Hip-Hop fans will also be treated to seeing fellow New York native, Dave East, in this film as well.
