Dawn Elberta Wells, an American actress, sadly passed away on December 30, 2020, from COVID-19 complications. Since the announcement of her death was made public, fans have sent out their love to her family members, and they continue to remember her with throwback photos on social media platforms. 

Wells was an exquisite actress, who always found ways to bring her characters to life, while passing strong messages across to the audience. 

Although the coronavirus took its toll on the actress, had also battled with several health issues that almost rendered her financially worn out.

'Gilligan's Island' Sitcom

Born on October 18, 1938, Wells attended Stephens College, situated in Columbia, Missouri. Here, she studied Chemistry for a while, before securing a transfer to the University of Washington.

In this University, located at Seattle U.S.A, Wells studied and graduated with a degree in theater arts and design in 1960.

Four years down the line, after featuring in several television series, Wells landed a role as Mary Ann on “Gilligan's Island.” GI is an American sitcom that aired from 1964 to 1967. Its storyline, centered on seven outcasts, who, after a shipwreck, found refuge in the shores of an Island.

The series also showed their comic lifestyles, conflicts and challenges that they either faced together or separately.

Wells was a major star in her time, but celebrities also have to live and support their family members. Although the reports were never confirmed, fans believed that the actress faced money issues. 

In 2018, a close friend of hers, began a 'GoFund Me' page in honor of Wells and fans were given access to give anything they could. According to reports, the money accumulation scheme was aimed at supporting the actresses' medical and tax bills. 

Another unconfirmed report also suggested that the former Miss Nevada owed the IRS about $200,000. Initially, Wells showed appreciation for the donation, but expressed her disappointment in her friend.

Fans are fond of comparing actors and actresses to one another and anyone who love one above the other, is expected to give reasons for this. In some cases, fans have purposely pitted two actors against one another on social media. 

When it came to “Gilligan's Island,” the comparison was inevitable. Fans often wondered who was the best and amazing Island girl between Wells and Tina Louise, who played the Ginger in the series.

Well's Life Outside Acting

Wells was a very prestigious and incredible actress, who always found a way to entertain her fans and keep them glued to their television screens.

In 1962, Wells was married to a talent agent known as Larry Rosen. The duo remained in the marriage for five years before they decided to go their separate ways. They also did not have any children together. 

Although Wells did not act in many high-profile movies, she was still a force to be reckoned with in the industry. She lived a happy life, until her death in Los Angeles at age 82.
