Tristan Thompson has finally broken his social media silence over the death of his mother, Andrea Thompson. The 31-year-old last posted on Instagram prior to his mother's death and came back online to share his pain with his followers.

In his post, the NBA player shared that he is "in the deepest part of sorrow & grief" as he described being emotionally heartbroken over her death.

He also sought forgiveness from his mother for the wrong decisions he had made in the past, which contrasted with the manner in which she raised him. Following his post, several fans, friends, and family members penned condolence messages in the comment section.

In his first Instagram post since the death of his mother, Tristan poured out his heart to fans in an emotional piece about him still reeling from her demise. The mother of the NBA player died in January after suffering a heart attack at her Toronto home.

Describing his loss, Thompson said he was in "disbelief" and is "in the deepest part of sorrow & grief."

He lauded his late mother as his "biggest supporter/superhero" in addition to caring for his siblings.

"I cannot thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, being one of Gods warriors, fighting back with whatever the world threw our way," the basketballer said. "You constantly protected us through prayer. My hero you fought all the battles you needed to, and it was time for you to go home."

'I Wanna Say Thank You For Picking Me As Your Son'

As part of his post, Tristan shared a couple of throwback photos from over the years of bonding moments he had with his mother and his kids.

He also highlighted his mother's efforts over the years in raising him to live a virtuous life.

"Mommy, I know you're watching down on me; I wanna say thank you for picking me as your son. You dedicated ur life to ur boys & the church," he continued his emotional post. "Prayed & fasted for family/friends because you know how evil this world is."

The former Chicago Bulls star then promised that her impact on his life and that of his siblings "will never go unnoticed or without appreciation."

He further listed her traits as an "amazing mommy, role model, best friend, & the strongest woman" he knows.

Tristan Asked His Mother For Forgiveness

Tristan also took the opportunity to seek forgiveness from his mother for the "wrong decisions" he has made over the years, which might have caused her "embarrassment & pain."

He appeared to reference his numerous sexual scandals, promising to change his ways and live up to her expectations.

"Actions speak louder than words. So I wont just say sorry. Stay tuned to the ways I will show the world what an amazing son you raised. I will show you that even when we fall & make mistakes, we get back up," he said, also sharing his commitment to looking after his epileptic younger brother Amari Thompson.

The basketballer penned that the "pain" of her death will never entirely go away as he reminisced about the many memories they had together and were yet to create.

"I love you mommy. I can't wait to see you and when I do I'm going to run and give you the biggest hug and kiss," he concluded the post. "I promise to make you proud. Til we meet again."

Fans, friends, and family consoled Tristan in the post's comment section and praised his tribute to his late mother.
