Adele Delivers Emotional Acceptance Speech As She Receives Her 16th Grammy
The 2023 Grammys was a memorable occasion for the "Rolling In The Deep" singer. From making her first appearance at the prestigious show with her boyfriend, Rich Paul, to meeting her favorite celebrity Dwayne Johnson for the first time, Adele's night was filled with pleasant surprises.
Looking like the Belle of the ball, the mother-of-one stunned in a red velvet gown designed with dramatic ruffles at the shoulders. The off-the-shoulder look featured a V-shaped opening at the bust and a banded waistline.
The gold-plated gramophone completed the "Hello" artist's gorgeous ensemble as she received the award for the spectacular performance of her hit single "Easy on Me" but credited the win to her muse and son, Angelo.
Adele gave an emotional acceptance speech, fighting back the tears while holding her 16th Grammy. "I really was just looking forward to coming tonight. I just wanted to dedicate this to my son Angelo," Adele said, referring to her child with ex-husband Simon Konecki.
The Tottenham native paused for a sudden facepalm as she recalled her lover's warning ahead of the award ceremony. "Oh god, Richie, he said, 'don't cry, if you win anything tonight, don't cry!' and here I am crying," the songstress hilariously lamented while making a funny impression of Paul's voice.
Following her special shout-out to the sports agent, the camera panned to show the 41-year-old smiling as he watched his partner. For the event, the Klutch Sports founder donned a classic black tuxedo to compliment Adele's dress.
Back to her speech, the "Set Fire To The Rain" singer explained her reasons for dedicating her latest victory to Angelo. According to the proud mother, her son inspired the song "Easy on Me" at a pivotal point in the Oscar honoree's life.
"This is for my son, and I wrote this first verse in the shower when I was choosing to change my son's life, and he's been nothing but humble and gracious and loving to me the whole time," the British icon revealed. Adele concluded her speech by noting her joy in winning the gold-plated gramophone with a piano ballad. The 5-time AMA winner stated that she considered this genre "very old school and brave."
The Grammy Winner's Sweet Impression Of Her Boyfriend Scores Points With Fans
Like everything she does, Adele's heartwarming acceptance speech generated waves on social media platforms. The songstress's humble personality moved fans, but the highlight for many was the 34-year-old's impression of her handsome beau.
"Adele's impression of rich paul lmaooo," a fan penned. A second fan shared similar sentiments adding three laughing emojis alongside the comment "Adele’s Rich Paul impression," while a third could not believe their ears. "Did adele just do a rich paul impression?" the fan rhetorically asked.
Other Twitter users found the Guinness World Records holder's pet name for her partner hilarious. "Has anyone called Rich Paul “Richie” in his life aside from Adele 😂😂" a curious fan penned. While another user found the name cute.
On the other hand, someone believed Paul had influenced Adele's "hood" behavior. "Look, Rich Paul, turn the hood sis Adele out ok 🤣🤣🤣 #Grammys2023," the social media user wrote.
The lovebirds announced their relationship in July 2021, a few months after the finalization of the songstress's divorce. Since their romance began, the pair have been serving numerous couple goals.
As previously shared by The Blast, during her Las Vegas residency last December, the entertainer serenaded her beau with the "Happy Birthday" song on his 41st birthday. She also got the audience to sing along, making this an iconic gift for her lover.
