Mulatto has been one of the biggest stars in hip-hop in 2020 but at the same time, she has brought a lot of controversy to her newfound stardom. This is due to her stage name as many view it as offensive. 

Mulatto is biracial and for years, her stage name is a term viewed as hateful against biracial people. Mulatto didn't entertain the idea of changing her name but now, this possible move is something that she is heading towards doing

Mulatto Denies Being Colorist

I'm not a colorist, but the internet gon' do what they do, I can't convince people that already don't like me otherwise so I'm not gonna have a stroke about it," Mulatto explained as she discussed the name change. 

"That's why I'm doing my little part on the back end like learning about today, and talk about the name change and stuff like that, to also dead it on my end because I feel like that kinda contributes to that."

Mulatto Says Name Change Will Take Time To Make Official

Mulatto also added that the name change will take time to make happen. This is due to her brand already being out there.

"It's still in the works, like, people gotta understand too that, at this level in an artist's career that's not just something that happens overnight," Mulatto said. 

"Or, it's not something that even happens period because it's so much money and investments on the line when you do that...but it's definitely in the works, like, I'm considering it for sure."

Mulatto Held 1920s-Themed Birthday Party Last Week

The Georgia native has also been trending on social media lately as she held her birthday party last week in Atlanta. This was a 1920s Great Gatsby-themed event. Mulatto's official birthday isn't until December 22 as she will turn 22. 

Many believe once the stage name change goes into effect, her star status will elevate to another level. People are already feeling the music she's put out throughout the year. Her "B*tch From Da Souf" remix with Saweetie and Trina was the breakout she received.

Mulatto Released Extended Version Of Debut Album This Month

Mulatto also treated fans to an extended version of her debut studio album, "Queen Of Da Souf," this month. This had five additional songs as the most popular one has been "Sex Talk" feat. Lil Baby

The music video has also been released and accumulated over 2 million views as it rises in becoming one of Mulatto's hottest tracks out. "Queen" and "Spend It" are other records on the extended version of the album that have received praise.
