It seems 2023 is the year of exploration for Doja Cat with regard to music!

The rapper slid onto the music scene three years ago and made waves with her No. 1 hit "Say So." She has become a formidable name in the industry by grabbing everyone's attention with her eccentric personality and as a hitmaker and fashionista. In a recent interview, the star spilled details on things she is working on, including a brand new album sometime in the new year.

Doja Cat Teases Exploring New Sound With Upcoming Album

The songwriter can be regarded as versatile, especially with her music, as her fans have seen her evolve over the years. Because of her easy flow in and out of genres, there have been hot takes on what type of musician she is, whether she should be thought of as a pop or a hip-hop artist.

On top of all that, the Los Angeles-born singer has also shown tendencies to lean towards being a rock star which could be evidenced in most of her live appearances, like her 2022 Coachella performance.

Speaking with Variety, she shared thoughts on what new area she planned on exploring in music. In her words, "I know that I've done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds, but for this next era, I'm going in a more masculine direction."

Although she gave no further details on the next album, it is clear that it would be different from her past releases. She vowed that there would be more rap on the upcoming project as she referenced her song "Vegas," which incorporated some parts of Elvis Presley's classic, "Hound Dog."

The 27-year-old finally revealed her plans for the album, stating, "I want to explore punk. But not pop-punk," as she explained that she felt there were already enough pop-punk artists and did not feel like it was the one for her. Doja noted what she wanted, saying:

"I want to explore more of a raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing. It's just something that I'm doing for my own personal fun — getting some drummers and guitarists together. And I don't even know if that's gonna make it out there."

A new genre is just the latest in the things that the "Get Into It" singer wishes to explore. Last November, The Blast shared that the artist reportedly is interested in plastic surgery.

She also confirmed in a tweet that she was about to get surgery, writing, "I'm literally about to get surgery this winter lmao," to which a fan responded to by asking, "for what?" The songstress replied, "I just want my titties pulled up cuz some of my tops don't fit the way I want them to."

'Need to Know' Singer Bashes Critics Coming For Her Shaved Hair

Changing looks is normal for everyone, but celebrities are usually at the mercy of the public's opinions, which sometimes are not aired in a polite way. The Blast reported that the rapper decided to respond to the backlash over the fact that she shaved her hair.

In a tweet that has since been deleted, she shut the haters up with a lengthy statement and did not mince words one bit! She wrote, "I won a grammy and traveled the f**king globe I've had a #1, and I went platinum. I make hit after hit after hit, and you all want me to look f**kable for you so that you can go home and jerk your c**ks all day long while you live in your mother's basement."

The "Kiss Me More" rapper ended her unfiltered rant with a simple message, "Go f**k yourselves." She received support from fans who felt it was unfair that she was being bullied for not succumbing to the industry's unrealistic beauty standards.

One fan wrote, "For just shaving your head. I wish people like you were treated better and hope you get better soon." While another noted, "every celebrity, men, and women, get judged for every single thing they do."
