Drake Is About To Release Slides That Look Like Scuba Diving Fins

These last years, the world of Fashion gave us some of the most original designs we have ever seen. Before, Fashion was an unstoppable cycle with the same clothes leaving the scene and coming back several years later, only to leave the scene again and come back later again. An example can be leather jackets or the Nike Dunk for shoes.

But some incredible talents like Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, and more recently Virgil Abloh or Kanye West arrived in the Fashion industry. These last two have changed clothes and footwear forever, putting streetwear, seen only as a "hood" style of clothing, at the front of the luxury fashion industry.

This was possible thanks to Off White and Virgil Abloh's designs at Louis Vuitton but also thanks to Kanye West and his Yeezys, particularly his Yeezy Slides and Foam Runners. These last two normalized wearing open shoes in any city, and not only in hot places. But guess what, evolution never stops because Drake has decided to design a slide that is even more original and bizarre than Kanye West's last design. He has decided to release Scuba Diving Fins... That you can wear in the street?

Well, these are not Scuba Diving Fins in reality, these are slides like the Yeezy Slides but with a very particular design that can remind us of these flippers you can go scuba diving with. Even though they're inspired by Nike Swim Fins, you apparently cannot swim with these Scuba Slides. Then, what's the point? Who wants to wear that in the street?

Well, a lot more people than you can think, and there are two main reasons for that. The first is the fact that this is designed by Drake and NOCTA. As an influencer and now a very good designer, Drake is followed by many fashion lovers and everything he creates is interesting by now. An example can be the Hot Step Air Terra that sneakers addicts loved even though these were very unusual and original. Even simple Air Force 1s with a little writing from Drake sold out very quickly only because It was NOCTA, and was designed by Drake.

The second reason is the fact that this design is special, very special. It's something we have never seen before and all the fashion lovers and sneakers addicts will want to get a hand on these crazy slides. And if you doubt it, just remember the release of the first Yeezy Foam Runners. These were mocked all over social media. People were comparing them to Alien shoes or kitchen tools. And in the end, you know the deal, all of these were sold out in 1 minute at every drop, with only a small chance to get one every time.

Finally, Nike wants to bury their recent backlash with the Nike Calm Slide which was a little bit of a scandal. Accused of plagiarism by sneakers addicts, because these were looking a lot like Yeezy Slides, Nike maybe wants to own their original slide in a market of open shoes that become more and more competitive.

Well, of course, even if people end up wearing these Drake Fins, they first make fun of it, like every time something too original is announced. And It's normal, It's too surprising to not react to it. The first one that made us laugh was the comparison to the famous Scuba Sam from the Film 'Big Baddy' released in 1999.

In this scene, Adam Sandler who plays the role of Sonny Koufax puts on a scuba suit to try to convince Julian to study. This scene is cult, is a meme, and is hilarious, but seeing it in the context of these new Scuba Slides is even better. People are even calling Drake's new creation 'The Scuba Steve's".

Another comment that is more interesting than funny is from @sofa_king_sic who tells us with a simple photo that these will not be slides but Scuba Fins.

Well, It's totally possible, but it seems like the fact that these new NOCTA slippers are meant for the street has already been confirmed. But let's see, maybe it was fake news and It's totally possible that people buy them only to flex during scuba diving sessions.
