Valerie Bertinelli successfully stuck to her Dry January resolution!
Earlier this month, the Food Network star disclosed to her fans that she had decided to do Dry January. Bertinelli stated that her reason for the health decision was to cleanse and reset her system.
As the month came to an end, the chef shared that she successfully kept to Dry January and also the changes she had noticed.
Valerie Bertinelli Shares Success In Keeping To Dry January
In her usual manner of updating her fans on her accomplishment, the “Hot in Cleveland” actress took to Instagram stories to share her Dry January progress. “Day 30, I did it!” Bertinelli announced in the video. “I’m happy because I physically feel better. I’m getting better sleep.”
However, the chef disclosed that feelings were coming up, and instead of using alcohol to drown them as usual, she decided to feel them through.
Bertinelli continued, highlighting that she was going to listen to her emotions. She said, “Feelings are emotions, and instead of ignoring them and suppressing them, I need to figure out what these feelings are telling me.”
Sharing more details about the supposed emotions, the “Kids Baking Championship” host pointed out that the feelings are telling her that she’s not worthy. Bertinelli noted that she realized that the feelings were not true and it was someone’s projection on her. Moreover, Bertinelli confessed that she had played the part of believing the untrue feelings, but she was no longer believing the untrue feelings.
"I have been screamed at so many times and told how fat and lazy I am," Bertinelli said. "I realize…that was someone just projecting on me whatever they needed to project on me, but my part in all of it was believing it, and I don't believe it anymore. But it still doesn't stop the feelings from coming up and the hurt."
In a subsequent video on her Instagram stories, the reality star mentioned that some of her followers had sent her messages telling her to stop talking about her feelings. The reality tv stated that she wasn’t going to stop and she was going to block all the critics.
“My core is joy and happiness, and I’m realizing that it gets covered by the stupid things that people say to me, and I believe that.” Before the video ended, the actress advised her followers not to let anyone dim their light.
The “Valerie Cooking” host announced she was embarking on Dry January a few days into the year. As The Blast reported, the mom of one shared the important health decision on her Instagram stories.
According to her, she was inspired by one of her friends, and she also had her personal reasons. Detailing her reasons, Bertinelli said, “I’m doing it for two reasons. One, I want to try and cut down the cravings for my sugar. And I think alcohol exacerbates that.”
She continued, “I want to calm down the cortisol in my body that has been raging for the last five, six years. I’ve been in fight, flight, freeze, and fawn mode. And I want to go into rest and digest. I think cutting alcohol will help me do that.”
The “Hot in Cleveland” Star Spreads Awareness About Emotional And Mental Abuse
When the “Sydney” actress is not giving health updates, she’s spreading awareness of mental and emotional abuse. Days ago, The Blast published that the 62-year-old reposted a video on Instagram bordering on relationships. The video said, “A man usually leaves a woman for another woman. But a woman leaves a man for herself.”
Explaining this opinion, Bertinelli said some things about mental and emotional abuse. In her words, “What she’s saying in the post is usually, but not always, not always, a man will leave a relationship for another woman. And usually, but not always, a woman needs to leave to find herself.”
Bertinelli added, “When it comes to emotional abuse and mental abuse, it’s not talked about because people just think I’m not being physically abused so it’s not abuse, right?” The star highlighted that the other partner would leave the relationship to rediscover who they are.
Similarly, the chef’s fans agreed with her opinions in the comments section. One individual wrote, “You’re correct. There are no absolutes. Yet, I feel this is more true than not. I also feel you don’t have to explain yourself but thank you for being genuine. Folks will always have something to complain or argue about.”
Another follower chimed in their opinion, writing, “I believe that’s why dating is so important red flags would come up some faster than others, when you truly get your point of loving yourself, nobody can say, or do anything that could take that away from you, unless you give it to them! Good post.”
