Last week, Teyana shocked fans when she announced her retirement from music after feeling "underrated" and "overlooked.". In a 30 minute Instagram Live video, she explained that her decision was a tough one but one that she ultimately had to make for her mental health.

She revealed that she has been trying to get out of her Def Jam contract for years because she felt that she was getting the "shorter end of the stick."

"Maybe if I retire, n—s will let me go," she said at the time. "Drop me, fam. Let me be free because, at this point, I'm so tired. I'm motherf—ing tired."
