Singer Britney Spears is finally ready to start using her voice and it looks like she has invented a new alter-ego to help her do it.
A few weeks ago, the 41-year-old pop star posted a photo of the planet Mars and declared that her new name was “River Red” after expressing her desire to change her name to “Brooklyn” late last year.
On Sunday night, the “Hold Me Closer’ posted a photo of her favorite flower, a rose, affirming her new name and her intentions to stay on Instagram because she “can.”

In a lengthy Instagram post shared on Sunday, January 29, the “Slumber Party” singer warned people who think that they know her story to “think again.”
“Since everyone thinks they know my story. THINK AGAIN !!! A mere side of any given SUNDAY doesn’t show worship placing someone’s story out there … it’s a day of WELCOMING … not a righteous reply !!!” Britney wrote. “It is what it is … nope I’m not having a breakdown … I am who I am and moving forward in my life.”
After making it clear to her followers that she is “not having a breakdown,” Britney went on to declare that her new name is River Red and she wants to be able to use her voice after finally being freed of her controversial conservatorship. The conservatorship officially started in February 2008 and was struck down by a judge in November 2021, a little over a year ago.
“I have never felt better !!! Nope, I’m not this girl or that girl … I am River Red … and being able to volumize my voice in a world where I lost my rights … for 15 years … gives me an opportunity to succeed !!!” Britney continued. “Opportunity to know I matter and maybe if you walked in my shoes, then maybe just maybe you could understand.”
It looks like Britney is still trying to understand her own limits now that she is freed from her conservatorship, writing, “Still learning this no rules thing … I don’t think so limited … I feel younger and in awe … unfortunately I’m boring as h*ll and drink hot chocolate at night !!! I’ve waited nearly 15 years to drink alcohol only to realize I hate it !!!”
“It makes me sad and I feel bloated, although food tastes better … Stay blessed and driven … SIT DOWN AND STAY HUMBLE … Nahhh, I’d rather show my a** !!!” she concluded, adding, “PS yes I took my Instagram down and now it’s back up because I can !!!”
Last week, the “Oops!…I Did It Again” singer made headlines after she deactivated her account on Tuesday night. Several concerned fans actually called the police department to do a welfare check, which reportedly took place just before midnight. In a short Twitter post, Britney asked her fans to respect her privacy moving forward and reinstated her Instagram account on Saturday afternoon.
Britney Shows Off A New Outfit… This Time, With A Ring Light!
It seems that the “Toxic” singer is still trying to figure out the best lighting for her fashion photos. On Sunday night, she posted a video that featured her wearing a white shirt with puffy sleeves and a short green skirt.
In the caption, Britney admitted, “This video is showing my first time with a RING LIGHT !!! D***, all this time 🙈🙈🙈 !!! This video is not as good as the last one in this outfit because I was figuring out how to do it … it’s actually cool and I felt proud at my first attempt at this ring light !!!”
“So shamelessly fishing for compliments 😂😂😂 yes I got it 😈😈😈 !!!” she went on. “Or would it be better to trust the person beside me to shoot it … just saying !!!”
It looks like the “Break The Ice” is still not allowing comments back on her videos. In a recent Twitter post, she explained why she shut down her Instagram, which also seems to explain why she shut down comments to her posts a few weeks ago.
“I shut down my Instagram because there were too many people saying I looked like an idiot dancing and that I looked crazy,” Britney wrote. “Honestly I was doing my best but it disturbed me to see people freely talk about it on TV … yep it hurt my feelings.”
