Julia Roberts & Jennifer Aniston will be swapping bodies soon!
The two famous actresses are set to bless fans' screens in an upcoming comedy movie written by filmmaker Max Barbakow. The pair had worked together previously when the "Pretty Woman" star was a guest star in "Friends" season two and "Mother's Day." The massive deal was won in an auction by Amazon against stiff competition from four other production companies and streamers.
Julia Roberts & Jennifer Aniston Are Set To Star In A Body Swapping Comedy
After the surprising box office success of the movie "Ticket To Paradise," starring Roberts and George Clooney, Amazon struck a deal for the new comedy flick featuring the "Wonder" star and 53-year-old actress.
The previous film boosted their confidence, it seems, after they garnered $169 million-plus at the box office globally last year due to older adults turning out in full force to watch it.
Now coupled with the win for the newest comedy vehicle with the huge stars, Head of Movies Julie Rapaport and Jennifer Salke believe that it signaled a step up for Amazon in strengthening their film state.
According to Deadline, the script was pitched by Barbakow, who is best known for directing "Palm Springs" the 2020 comedy by Andy Samberg-Cristin Milioti, which was won by "Neon and Hulu" at Sundance for a then-festival record sum.
The still-untitled film will be written and directed by the cinematographer. At the same time, LuckyChap Entertainment — Margot Robbie's production label, Josey McNamara and Tom Ackerley will produce alongside Aniston's Echo Films and Robert's Red Om Films banner.
Not only did Amazon win the body-swap comedy flick, but they also won "Red Shirt" pitched by Simon Kinberg, in which "Step Up" actor Channing Tatum will star and be directed by David Leitch. Another was Nick Stoller's wedding comedy starring veteran actors Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon, as well as a bid for Sundance's hot title "Flora and Son."
The auction was handled by CAA, and it was observed that if packages concerning A-listers could be fast-tracked and inserted into release schedules as soon as possible, it would be the best way to earn the highest amount of money.
It is to be also noted that by the time the "We're The Millers" actress and the "Notting Hill" star's movie gets made, each of them will hit an apex payday which includes their backend buyout and salary.
Hirsch Wallerstein and CAA will rep the 55-year-old; the "Office Space" star is Lighthouse Management, Hansen Jacobson and CAA; Max Barbakow is Range Media Partners, Jim Gilio, and Jonathan Sauer at Sloan, Offer, and CAA; LuckyChap is attorney Jeff Bernstein, Entertainment 360 and CAA.
Aniston Reveals Fangirl Moment Over 'My Best Friend's Wedding' Actress
Everyone fantasizes about meeting their heroes and even going as far as practicing what they would say to them and hoping they do not get extremely awkward around them. Celebrities who have garnered a lot of accolades are not left out of feeling awestruck when they get a chance to work closely with someone they admire.
This was the case for Aniston, who disclosed how she fangirled over meeting Roberts during filming. Per Today, the "Just Go with It" actress explained how it felt getting starstruck over the mother-of-three.
Even though they had known each other before working together on the movie "Mother's Day," there was footage of Aniston floundering over her lines and calling her co-star by her actual name, "Julia," while filming their characters.
When asked why that happened, she exclaimed, "Because it's Julia Roberts! Oh my gosh!" to ET during the film's premiere. Being that Hollywood is such a small world and they would have crossed paths in several places, including red carpet appearances, and auditions, amongst others, one would think she would be cool when meeting Roberts in close quarters.
That only made it worse as the producer further explained that she was just floored getting to see the "August: Osage County" star in her acting element. The "Marley & Me" actress noted, "It's a different thing when, you know, you get to sort of work with them, and then you're doing what you both do together. You know what I mean?"
