From complete devastation to an absolute dream come true. That's how Tuesday night's Miami Heat game went for a 12-year-old fan of Jimmy Butler.
Felipe, along with his sister Zoe, traveled more than 4,400 miles from Argentina to Miami to see Butler play with the Heat against the Boston Celtics. The brother-sister duo held up a sign that read, "Dear Jimmy: We flew over 4405 miles to see you play. Can we get a photo or a big face coffee?" But just before tip-off, something terrible happened - Butler was ruled out with back soreness.
Felipe And Zoe Traveled From Argentina To See Jimmy Butler Play
When a Heat usher broke the news to Felipe and Zoe that not only is Butler not playing, but he's not even in the building, the devastation and despair could be seen on the young boy's face. That's when the Miami Heat, and Jimmy Butler, stepped in to turn the sadness around for the visiting fan.
The video clip of Felipe getting the bad news says it all. As soon as he's told Butler won't be playing and isn't in the building, he drops his sign and his smile. None of this went without notice, and the Miami Heat stepped in to try to help save the day.

At halftime, the siblings were brought down to mid court and gifted some memorabilia to try to help turn around the sad turn of events. They had the chance to meet a few players and take some snaps to document the occasion. And just when Felipe and Zoe probably thought the experience was over, they got another big surprise. TNT's Jamal Crawford shared the experience on Instagram with a carousel of photos.
"Yesterday, this young kid was so hurt not seeing JB play. Today, his life was made! Itβs so much more to the game than wins/ loses.. @jimmybutler is such a stand up guy. This is what itβs all about!! π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯π₯ππΎ," his caption reads.
The day after the game, Butler met up with the family at Miami-Dade Arena to take pictures, sign autographs, and give a tour of the Heat's locker room. Butler shared photos in his Instagram Stories of the meeting and Felipe once again smiling.
