American actor Robert De Niro recently shared his view on President Donald Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani when he made a guest appearance on “The View” recently.
The host of the show Sunny Hostin questioned the 77-year-old producer about his opinion on Giuliani's changing career path as a mob prosecutor in the 80s to become Trump's representative.
The actor revealed that although he had no idea what went wrong for the former prosecutor, he felt terrible for him because of his recent affiliation and representation of a mob family.
'Rudy Giuliani Should Have Refused The Position' -Robert De Niro
The Oscar winner, who has always been a staunch critic of Trump, his family, and his government continued that he could not fathom a good reason for Giuliani's decision to represent Trump as a counselor.
De Niro reasoned that Guiliani might have just taken up the role in a desperate seek for attention, so to say.
Making his disappointment about the issue known, De Niro added that the former Mayor could have just declined the position and stood his ground, as that would get him people's respect and patronage.
The Dictator's Playbook
In early November, the director slammed Trump during a guest appearance on “The Beat With Ar Melber” with MSNBC, when he compared him to autocratic leaders.
He accused Trump of being a ‘wannabe’ and pointed out that it seems the President was using the same playbook as Mussolini, Hitler, and other dictators.
He observed that the absolute rulers are always talking about making their respective country ‘great again,’ by appealing to the general populace’s worst prejudices and weakness instead of lending themselves as leaders and mentors.
Robert De Niro Thankful For The New Presidential-Elect Joe Biden
De Niro admitted to the show’s host that he was grateful for the election’s current results. He thanked God for the last election where Trump was voted out of office in favor of Joe Biden.
Speaking about the presidential elect, Biden, De Niro said, “Biden is going to bring us into calm waters.”
When asked about his acting life, the “Godfather” star also made a not-so-subtle jab at Trump when he shared that the characters he portrayed in movies all have an individual dignity within them, which he finds wanting in the President’s persona.
Who Are Donald Trump's Supporters?
The award-winning actor expressed his shock and disappointment in the American citizens who cast their votes for Trump.
Flabbergasted, the father-of-six shared that it made no sense that Trump had supporters who were willing to vote him in for the second term with the way he acted in the past.
He said that he saw numerous people who shared his view and maintained that he was still amazed at how Trump had supporters despite his appalling attitude and apparent lack of care for them.
