It’s been confirmed! There’s no bad blood between SZA & Taylor Swift, as they both showered praises on each other in recent posts!
Fans know that the “Love Story” singer released her 10th studio album, "Midnight," which achieved commercial success with thousands of streams and topping the charts. Shortly after, Solána Imani Rowe, popularly known as SZA, dropped her album, which, only days after its release, topped the charts, closely competing with Swift’s album.
With records from both artists’ albums roughing it out for the top spot on Billboard 200, fans speculated a feud between them. However, Swift’s recent post shushed such ongoing rumors.
Taylor Swift And SZA Gushed Over Each Other’s Artistry
The “Bad Blood” singer reposted on her Instagram Story a Billboard article revealing that her song Anti-Hero had become “her longest-leading No. 1 on the #Hot100 with eight total weeks!”
Accompanying the posr, the “Blank Space” singer expressed her surprise at the song's achievement. Swift gushed, “WHAT ON EARTH I LOVE YOU GUYS.”
Swift didn’t stop there; she further gushed about her fellow singer, SZA’s album. She wrote, “PS - BEEN LISTENING TO @SZA'S ALBUM NONSTOP.' The 11-time Grammy award winner continued by commending SZA’s music skills. “ABSOLUTELY ADORE HER MUSIC. SO MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT FOR HER!!” Swift declared.
The “Blind” singer reposted Swift’s sweet tribute on her Instagram stories reconfirming that, indeed, there’s no feud between them. The songwriter wrote, “Congratulations to tay tay! And thank you so much your album and writing is phenomenal .. as ALWAYS.”
Before this confirmation, the “Shirt” singer had denied rumors of a feud between her and Swift. At that time, the singer tweeted, “Uhh I feel silly that I even have to say this, but I see supporters arguing and I hate that.”
She further wrote, “I don’t have beef w ANYONE especially not Taylor lmao I genuinely loved her album and the writing! Everyone’s jus tryna do their BEST as we all should . LOVE TO EVERYONE. Gn”
SZA’s clarification came after she opened up about being bullied as a chind. The singer disclosed, “I was bullied because I wasn’t quiet and I was awkward at the same time, I wasn’t this tiny sad victim, but I was more so attacked just because it was giving ‘what is wrong with you?’ energy.”
Adding, “I always thought, ‘Oh my God.’ I’ll never have the approval of anyone in life, this must be my defining factor, this must be the bottom line.”
SZA’s “SOS” Album Claims No. 1 Spot On Billboard For Five Consecutive Weeks
According to Billboard, SZA's “SOS” album has stayed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Jan. 21) for five consecutive weeks. Per reports, the project earned 125,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Jan. 12 (down less than 1%).
So far in 2022, only four albums have been able to achieve that feat. In order of most recent, the albums included “SOS,” Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” (five), Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti” (13), and the “Encanto” soundtrack (nine).
The “Kill Bill” singer’s second studio album is the first album to spend its first five weeks at No. 1 since Adele’s “30” championed the list for its first six weeks (its total run at No. 1) from Dec. 4, 2021-Jan. 8, 2022.
The last R&B album by a solo woman who had achieved that same feat was Mariah Carey’s “Daydream,” which notched six nonconsecutive weeks from Oct. 21, 1995, to Jan. 13, 1996.
As you may know, Billboard has a given format for ranking. According to their publication, “the Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).”
The article further explained the format, “Each unit totals one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.”
