Sheryl Lee Ralph is willing to include "The White Lotus" in her acting resumé.
The actress is beloved in Hollywood, especially since she gave a stellar performance as Barbara Howard on the ABC mockumentary sitcom "Abbott Elementary." This role earned her an Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, thus making her the first black woman to win in 35 years. Now, it seems Ralph is ready to take on a new acting role and isn't opposed to making an appearance in season three of "The White Lotus."
Sheryl Lee Ralph Reveal She Would Check Into "The White Lotus" For Season 3
Ralph — a winner at the Critics Choice Awards — shared a story about meeting The White Lotus alum and fellow winner of the night, Jennifer Coolidge, years ago, then showered her with praises. She said:
"Listen, I met Jennifer in New Orleans a few years ago, and she's exactly what you'd think she is. So, when I see her joy and happiness and winning now, it's proof to me you can look any kind of way, you can be however old you are, all you have to do is be in the moment and accept it, and I'm accepting it for Jennifer Coolidge. She deserves it."
During the interview with E! News, the "Motherland: Fort Salem" actress was asked if she would likely join the forthcoming season of the HBO series. Ralph said, "Honey, please" before enthusiastically singing, "Call me. Don't be afraid to just call me."
Playing cast director, the female reporter suggested a guest appearance role for Coolidge on the 66-year-old's current show. Ralph agreed that she would be "great" before adding, "But it's all up to my boss, Quinta Brunson."
The alternating conversation touched on the shows or movies Ralph was currently watching; she disclosed that she was watching "Everything, All Together, All At Once, Today, Tomorrow, Every day" because she was a part of the Oscars Award voting committee.
The HBO series "The White Lotus" has quickly established itself as a favorite among critics and fans, but it's also a certified hit among actors. The third season rollout has begun, and per The Blast, it will focus on new characters and a new location.
The show originally debuted in July 2021, set in Hawaii. However, on the renewal, HBO's officials announced that the next season would follow a new group of visitors at another White Lotus property. As reported, the show's creator, writer, and director, Mike White, stated:
"There's no place I'd rather work than HBO and there's no people I'd rather partner with than Casey Bloys, Francesca Orsi, Nora Skinner, and their incredible team. I feel so lucky to get this opportunity again and am excited to reunite with my amazingly talented collaborators on 'The White Lotus.'"
Indeed, the new season will ring in more success for the premium network because, per reports, the show received the most Emmy Awards of any show last year, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
'Abbott Elementary' Star Is Targeting EGOT Status
The Blast shared that Ralph spoke about her future plans, including targeting the EGOT status. On the heels of her historic Emmy win, Ralph may join John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg, and 13 others in winning the four GOATs of awards: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. While accepting her award, the former singer stunned the audience with a fantastic speech. She said:
"To anyone who has ever, ever had a dream and thought your dream wasn't, wouldn't, couldn't come true. I am here to tell you that this is what believing looks like. This is what striving looks like. Don't you ever, ever give up on you, because if you get a Quinta Brunson in your corner, if you get a husband like mine in your corner, if you get children like mine in your corner, and if you've got friends like everybody who voted for me, cheered for me, loved me—thank you!"
The 66-year-old shared that she was producing a new Broadway play starring actress Audra McDonald; then she noted, "I've got an Emmy, so why not go for the EGOT?"
