In court documents obtained exclusively by The Blast, the biohazardous remediation company is seeking thousands from the late singer’s estate.
The Late Aaron Carter And Melanie Martin Owe Thousands To A Company Who Performed Work On Their Lancaster Home Last Year
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, a “mechanic’s lien” has been placed on a home that Aaron and Melanie shared in Lancaster. Sterile Pros, LLC. is claiming a lien for “labor, services, equipment, and/or materials upon the premises, and upon every estate or interest in such structures and improvements.”
The company is seeking reimbursement for biohazardous remediation to three bedrooms, a master bathroom, and a closet, which they say amounted to $33,598.70. Aaron C. Carter is listed as the owner of the property, although Melanie Martin is also listed on the contract. The company claims that they furnished the work and acquired the materials at the request of either Aaron or Melanie, and now they want his estate to pay up.
If the estate is planning on selling the home, they are going to have to settle the mechanic's lien first. The pop star was found dead in his home in Lancaster, California, on November 5, 2022, at the age of 34. He was cremated less than a week later on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. An autopsy of his death was performed, but his cause of death is still unknown at this time.
Aaron's Family Believes Singer Died Of An Overdose
On Thursday, January 17, Aaron Carter’s family spoke out about his cause of death. Although he was found in the bathtub, his family doesn’t believe that he drowned. Instead, they believe that he passed away from a drug overdose.
His fiancée, Melanie Martin, and his mother, Jane Carter, spoke to TMZ and revealed some shocking information about Aaron’s death. The L.A. County Coroner’s Office reportedly told them that they found no water in his lungs, which eliminated drowning as a potential cause of death.
The late singer’s family is still waiting on the toxicology results to determine what drugs were in his system passed away, but it seems that the family has good reason to suspect that Aaron passed away from an overdose. Apparently, Aaron’s family is alleging that a drug deal went down on the night of his death and they want law enforcement officials to investigate the allegation.
Melanie, who has possession of Aaron’s phone, has claimed that she found text messages from an unknown individual stating that he owed $800 for an “unknown substance.” Aaron reportedly replied that he didn’t need the substance anymore, but the person insisted that he still owed money. Melanie said Aaron directly asked if he was being threatened and the conversation stopped there. She has reportedly turned over the text message exchange to police to aid in their investigation.
It's unclear if a possible drug deal led to Aaron’s death as police are still waiting for a toxicology report to come in. It’s also worth noting that police officials told TMZ that they found multiple cans of compressed air around his bathroom and bedroom, as well as prescription pills. At this time, his family told the outfit that they don’t believe that his death was caused by huffing compressed air.
Aaron Says His Late Sister Introduced Him To Huffing
In 2019, in an episode of The Doctors, Carter, then 31, opened up about his huffing addiction. “It’s something that I’ve kept secret from the whole world until now,” he said, adding that his sister Leslie, who passed away from a drug overdose in 2012, was the one who introduced him to huffing.
“Started when I was about 16,” he said. “I started going to Staples and Office Depot, and different places, buying it with cash so it wouldn’t be reported on receipts or anything like that, so no one could trace me.”
“I was huffing because I was really f— stupid and sad but this is really no excuse,” he admitted. “I was huffing because I’m a drug addict.” At the time, host Dr. Travis Stork revealed that his urine also “tested positive for marijuana, extended opiates, hydrocodone as an example, and benzodiazepine.”
The family is still waiting on the toxicology report to determine what drugs were in Aaron's system when he passed.
