Stephen Curry Impresses Young Fan Before Game

Before Golden State Warriors’ win against Washington Wizards this past Monday with a score of 127-118, Warriors’ point guard Stephen Curry also won with a young fan at the game.

Warriors on NBCS posted a video of a wide-eyed, smiling, adoring young fan standing courtside admiring Curry during warmups. The boy, holding a Curry doll, jumped up and down as Curry shot baskets. The video showed the boy so excited that his family had to hold him back, so he didn’t run on to the court.

Curry is one of the best when it comes to interactions with young fans, and consistently greets and interacts with them during games. In another social media post, this time posted by Curry, he posted a photo with other young fans, who were fully clad in Golden State regalia.

Not only is he impressing the young fans with his skills, but he’s also showing what it’s like to be a role model with his foundation, and with his return to basketball after injury.

Recently, Curry celebrated three years of the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation, a nonprofit that he started with his wife Ayesha in 2019. The nonprofit works to ensure children have everything they need in their lives by working to fight childhood hunger, providing educational opportunities and promoting active lifestyles.

Last month the Currys also put on their 10th annual Christmas With The Currys Winter Wonderland event. The Currys, along with their nonprofit team, brought together 1,000 children and 500 families in Oakland, CA to enjoy skating, ice sculptures, bounce house jumping, face painting, food, books, toys and computers. Most importantly, what winter celebration would be complete without chucking snowballs at Curry?!

In a video on Curry’s Instagram showing the event, Eat. Learn. Play. chief executive officer Chris Helfrich said, “Christmas With The Currys is our attempt to make the holidays a little bit brighter for kids and families in Oakland.”

Curry also explained why he and his wife work hard to continue this event every year, and why their nonprofit is important to them.

“We’re here to support them,” Curry said. “We’re here to hopefully lift them up. We’re here to instill a confidence in the next generation of kids that deserve an opportunity to seek their full potential across all the three pillars that Eat. Learn. Play. stands for, but also just being that village for them.”

Aside from Number 30’s nonprofit work and supporting young fans, Curry himself made a comeback last week. After missing 11 games due to a shoulder injury, he returned last Tuesday to play the Phoenix Suns. Though the Warriors lost that game, they won the next against the San Antonio Spurs, and most recently won against the Wizards.

According to Sports Illustrated, this past Sunday he hit a milestone. Curry is now listed as number 41 on the list of NBA scorers of all time, passing Pau Gasol on that list.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr even called the two-time MVP, four-time NBA Champion “modern MJ” in a press conference after Monday’s game, and commentators called him superhuman.

Next up on Curry’s comeback tour, the Warriors will head to the White House on Tuesday to meet President Joe Biden, and receive an honor for their 2022 NBA Title. Their next game is Thursday against the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.
