Nikki Bella can't escape her ex, John Cena.
It's been two years since the couple ended their engagement, and both have moved on. Yet, Nikki continues to be plagued with questions about her former love.
Nikki and John were one of wrestling's power couples. Not only were they popular in the sports world, but also in the entertainment industry. However, after six years together the couple called it quits in 2018.
With the recent news that Cena secretly married his girlfriend Shay Shariatzadeh, many are wondering how Nikki felt about the situation.
The Way They Were
Nikki and John began dating in the fall of 2012 shortly after his divorce from ex-wife Elizabeth Huberdeau.
News of their relationship was the talk of the sports and entertainment world. Both were big stars in WWE and were becoming popular in mainstream media.
As John was establishing an acting career, Nikki and her sister Brie Bella were the stars of "Total Divas," and later the spinoff "Total Bellas."
The two were quickly becoming one of sports and Hollywood's famous couples. The cameras followed their every move, and the pair weren't shy about sharing PDA.
End Of Their Relationship
Although, Cena and Nikki looked like a happy couple on the red carpet, at home things were a different story.
As seen on "Total Divas," the couple often argued about plans for the future. Nikki wanted to marry and have kids, however, Cena was against the idea.
Despite having different opinions on the topic, the couple stayed together.
Eventually, Cena began to change his stance and warmed up to the idea of marriage.
The couple became engaged during WrestleMania 33 in what would be one of the most iconic moments in WWE history.
Nikki was excited about seeing her dream come true. However, just before the couple's rumored May 2018 wedding, Nikki and John ended their engagement.
Cena's New Wife
While the split was tough on both, Cena seemed to be taking it the hardest.
The star began posting inspirational quotes on Instagram and even went on television expressing his wish for reconciliation with Nikki.
However, a reunion wasn't in the works, and the couple ended their relationship for good.
Cena would eventually get back into the dating game.
In the spring of 2019, he began dating Shay Shariatzadeh, an engineer from Vancouver. The couple met while Cena was filming the movie "Playing With Fire."
Although they kept silent about their relationship, the two soon went public when Shay strolled the red carpet with her new beau.
Before long reports of an engagement circulated around the couple, and on October 12, 2020, the two made it official with a secret wedding.
Nikki's Reaction
Like her ex, Nikki has also moved on with her life.
The 36-year-old reality star is engaged to "Dancing With the Stars" pro Artem Chigvintsev. The two became parents on July 31st when Nikki gave birth to a son named Matteo.
However, once again the topic of John Cena is surrounding her.
Many fans found it odd that Cena strung Nikki along with no hope of marriage, but was quick to tie the knot with Shay.
For anyone hoping for a feud between the exes, that's not happening.
Upon hearing the news about his wedding, Nikki's reaction was one of happiness. According to sources, Nikki holds no grudges against her ex and wishes him and his new wife nothing but the best.
