Savannah Chrisley Gets Emotional About Mom's Battle With Cancer

Savannah Chrisley is taking a moment to recognize one of the strongest role models in her life -- her mother! The "Chrisley Knows Best" star took to Instagram today to pay tribute to Julie Chrisley, as she is a survivor of breast cancer and October is an important month surrounded around breast cancer awareness. Savannah has dealt with her own medical issues recently, specifically having surgery for treatment of endometriosis, but she wanted to recognize the hard-fought journey her mother has been on as well.
Savannah Chrisley began her tribute to Julie Chrisley with some facts about breast cancer, as October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month:
"On average, every 2 minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States," and, "This year, an estimated 42,170 women will die from breast cancer in the U.S."
"You guys won’t appreciate this photo like I do...but this woman...she’s a superhero...my superhero! And I get to call her mama," Savannah captioned her photo of Julie smiling wide into the camera.

Savannah revealed her mother's battle with breast cancer, which has been discussed in the past by Julie herself.
" [Back] in 2012 @juliechrisley was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo a double mastectomy and many other procedures. During that time our routine barely changed...mama Julie laid down the law and insisted that everyone’s lives remain as normal as possible and she wanted no sympathy from anyone. That’s just my strong willed mama for you," Savannah continued her tribute to Julie.

She continued, writing about the strength Julie showed during her battle:
"During her battle with breast cancer, I NEVER ONCE saw her complain when she had every reason to. This woman...she’s a Proverbs 31 woman and she is MY MAMA! With the help of the good Lord above and the amazing team of doctors at Johns Hopkins my mama kicked cancers butt!! But sadly...there are soooo many families that don’t get to say that and for those families...my heart breaks. Let’s continue to bring awareness to this TERRIBLE disease."

Savannah's post was well-received by fans and even sparked some serious conversation about what the reality star is doing to help more women have access to facilities that can get them proper checkups.
"I wish they made mammograms and scans affordable for those of us who have no insurance," one fan wrote in Savannah's comments.
The "Chrisley Knows Best" star responded directly about the efforts of her and Julie, writing, "This breaks my heart...some @juliechrisley and I really hope to tackle head on."
