Armie Hammer Files For Joint Custody Of Kids, Upset Wife Won't Return From Cayman Islands

Armie Hammer is asking a judge to order him joint custody of his two children with estranged wife, Elizabeth Chambers, after the actor claims she isn't returning to L.A. from the Cayman Islands with the kids -- who he hasn't seen in months.
According to new legal documents, obtained by The Blast, Hammer filed in the Los Angeles County Courts to force his ex-wife to return from the Caymen Islands and set up a custody schedule where he will get time with his children.
In the filing, Armie claims after the COVID-19 pandemic started, he agreed to take the family to the Cayman Islands which appeared to be unaffected by the virus. But, after the couple's split, he returned to Los Angeles, and after 'repeated efforts' can't get Elizabeth to return home with the kids.

According to legal documents, filed by Armie's lawyers Laura Wasser and Erica Lubans, "As the coronavirus pandemic worsened in the United States, Elizabeth and Armie elected to stay with their children temporarily in the Cayman Islands where the pandemic appeared to be under greater control. Armie returned to Los Angeles this past July, with a promise from Elizabeth that she and the children would follow shortly thereafter. To date, however, Elizabeth and the children remain in the Cayman Islands and Armie has not seen the children in several months now."
In the filing, Hammer says:
"When I asked Elizabeth when she was coming home, however, she first told me that the airports were closed. Then I was informed through her attorneys that flights were merely limited but that she and our children would be back in Los Angeles on the first flight in October. It is now several weeks into October and they have not returned."

Although, the actor doesn't come right out and say his ex-wife is attempting to stay in the Cayman Islands for good -- his lawyers called living in the area to stay away from the Coronavirus a 'misguided effort.'
"Armie sincerely hopes, however, that Elizabeth is not trying to limit his contact with their children, and that her recent decision to keep the children in the Cayman Islands away from their father is a well-intentioned though misguided effort to navigate the current pandemic," the document states.
"I believe we are both good, loving parents, and I have tried to be patient as I know that this a stressful time for all of us who are dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. I have no doubt that Elizabeth and I both want what is best for our children," Armie says.
Adding, "But I have not seen our children since July and I miss them deeply."

In the legal documents, obtained by The Blast, it appears Elizbeth's lawyers are suggesting Armie make the trip back to the Cayman Islands to see his kids.
"There are still no cases of COVID and the children are able to live a “normal” life in contrast to being in Los Angeles having to wear a mask and stay indoors, especially now given the fires and poor air quality," they said in a letter.
Adding, "Armie, however, elected to stay in Los Angeles."
Interestingly, they added, "We have concerns regarding Armie engaging in behavior which many would consider putting him and others at risk."
As we reported, Elizabeth Chambers filed for divorce on July 13, 2020, and the couple shares two children -- daughter Harper Grace, 5, and son Ford Douglas Armand, 3.
At this point, a judge will now decide the custody situation, unless the couple can work it out on their own.
