The couple has faced many challenges throughout their relationship.
The comedian was "canceled" in 2020 due to multiple sexual misconduct allegations brought against him.
Subsequently, D’Elia was dropped by his agency, replaced in a number of projects and essentially “canceled” by the internet.
After much time offline and out of the public, D’Elia slowly made a return to his podcast, “Congratulations,” and to stand-up comedy. He has a new podcast with his brother, Matt D'Elia, called "Lifeline" as well. #RUNK
D’Elia returned to his YouTube channel and other social media accounts on February 19. He issued a 9:38 second video to his account titled, “It’s been a while.”

In it he said, “I stand by the fact that all my relationships have been consensual and legal, and that’s just it. That’s the truth.”
He continued to explain that during his time away from the public he sought a lot of medical advice, therapy and stuff like that. After speaking to medical professionals, D’Elia came to the conclusion that it all boiled down to sex.
“Sex controlled my life. It was my focus all the time, and I had a problem. I still do, it’s not like a few months down the line you just, everything’s better. I need to do better at that,” he said.
In a 2021 episode of his podcast, the comedian went into even more depth about his sex addiction and sobriety.
On his June 16, 2021 episode titled, “We’re The Falcons Now,” D’Elia announced he was one-year sober.
“I have a year sobriety. I have *a year* sobriety and I can’t believe I’m saying that. I feel good, you know, and it’s hard and I don’t want to run before I can walk. But I’m taking it a day at a time,” he explained.
D’Elia admitted talking about his sobriety made him feel very insecure and a bit exposed.
“I haven’t had sex with anybody but my fiancée in the past year and I know that’s like ‘whoa, what do you deserve a f***ing medal?’ And the truth is when you’re in f***ing sobriety and you’re in these meetings you actually do get a f***ing medal,” quipped D’Elia.

The comedian said he still can’t believe he’s made it this far, and while it is difficult to talk about, he hopes this conversation can help people.
D'Elia Did A One-Month Stay In Rehab
More recently, D’Elia revealed he went to an in-patient rehab facility for sex addicts from November to December 2022.
During his January 3rd “Congratulations” podcast episode titled, “Rehab Chronicles, D’Elia said, “Nobody knows about this but I went to rehab… I went to rehab, I was there for a month. I went back in November and we pre-record a lot of this s**t [podcast episodes].”
D’Elia admitted he should’ve gone to rehab a long time ago.
But hey, better late than never.
“And [I] just shoulda done it this whole time honestly. Shoulda done it years ago. [I] didn’t, because I had excuses in my head about Covid and s**t and all that, but yeah. I did it because I had to, you know, for my addiction and all that s**t,” he said. “I need to be present, but my god it was a trauma-based thing that I went to and one of the best in the world. And, holy f**king s**t man, really the work that they do there is absolutely amazing. I was there and I was scared as s**t.”
After being there for just two weeks, the comedian came to the realization that “Oh, everybody should do this.”
