It seemed like it was only a matter of time, but now it's official. Netflix has renewed its smash-hit new television series, "Wednesday," for a second season.

Netflix confirmed the news earlier on Friday (Jan. 6) with a short preview video on the show's Twitter account. As Wednesday grimly notes in the narration, "Over the past few weeks, I've been hunted, haunted, and mimicked millions of times across the internet. It's been pure torture. Thank you."

Netflix Renews Hit Show 'Wednesday' For Second Season

The new highly buzzed-about series stars Jenna Ortega in the titular role of Wednesday Addams in the new reimagining of "The Addams Family" franchise. As previously reported by The Blast, the show recently became Netflix's third-ranked most-watched English-language show in the service's history. It later drew the second-largest week ever on Nielsen's streaming chart.

A renewal for the show appeared inevitable, and now it's official. Co-showrunners and co-creators, Miles Millar and Alfred Gough spoke to Netflix Tudum on the new season, "We can’t wait to dive headfirst into another season and explore the kooky, spooky world of Nevermore." They added, "We just need to make sure Wednesday hasn’t emptied the pool first."
