Kaling posted some clips and photos on Instagram from "The Mindy Project" in September to celebrate the show's 10th anniversary. "I love this show so much. The cast, crew and writers room remain some of my favorite and most important people in my life today," she began a caption of a video clip from the show. "I wanted to play a woman who was basically a good person, but also very insane, and had tons of stuff she needed to work on."

Her caption continued to explain how she envisioned the show to be. "Coming from The Office, I wanted the show to be packed with jokes, but also, like You’ve Got Mail or When Harry Met Sally, really romantic and made you want to live in New York City," she explained. "In addition, I wanted to wear head-to-toe amazing designer fits even though I wasn’t (and still am not) a size 2. I think we accomplished that! It will always be the most fun six years (117 episodes!) of my life! I’ll be sharing some of my favorite moments and scenes all week long!"

In another post about the show, she explains how fashion often took center stage. "Fashion was a huge part of The Mindy Project. I wanted Mindy Lahiri to look fabulous and eye-catching (subtlety was not her vibe lol)," she explained. "Of all her personality flaws, feeling insecure about her body was never one of her issues, and I wanted our show to communicate that stylishness transcended size."

The actress/writer/producer also explained how costume fittings sometimes took hours and that she always looked forward to them. The caption was to a carousel of 10 of Kaling's favorite outfits from the show.
