Danica McKellar Welcomes 48 With 'Obligatory' No Makeup Selfie

Danica McKellar is welcoming her 48th year in stride with some gratitude, thoughts on youth and a makeup and filter free selfie on Instagram.

The caption to McKellar's "obligatory no makeup, no filter shot" begins with thanking everyone who sent her birthday wishes. "Thank you all for your sweet birthday messages already today! Wishing you all a beautiful 2023 and thank you so much for being on this journey with me," her caption starts out. "Both with my movies on @gactv and with @mckellarmath, and of course also with my newfound faith, for which so many of you have been so encouraging."

The actress then shares her thoughts on the secret to youth citing attitude as the reason. "If there's any secret I've found to youth, it's in the attitude...and a healthy, clean lifestyle, of course," she wrote. "Our minds and bodies are inextricably connected. I've found when I eat well and get enough rest and exercise, I have so much more access to that inner joy that makes life fun!"

Her explanation of youth continued with more of what she does to stay looking and feeling young. "And when I discipline myself to see good (and laugh at the absurdities) in the world, resisting the seduction of outrage addiction, I find I'm more likely to stay in gratitude and make healthy choices...like going to be early instead of staying up late to scroll through...all the things there are to be outraged over," she explained. "The other secret to life? Taking all that gratitude and giving back to the world in as many ways as I can."

McKellar then shared some of her grandmother's wisdom saying, "My grandmother always said, 'The way to be happy is to make other people happy.' Spread it around."

Many of "The Wonder Years" star's social media followers, fans and friends took to the comments of her makeup and filter free birthday selfie to send her birthday wishes. Fellow actress Candace Cameron Bure wrote, "Happy birthday Danica!!!! May God bless you abundantly this new year in ways unexpected ❤️❤️❤️" and actress Marisol Nichols added, "You look 20!"

Actress Nikki DeLoach wrote, "Happy birthday lady!! You look stunning! Sending you so much love for this next trip around the sun,❤️" and Melissa Joan Hart added a simple birthday message with, "?????"

Keeping her message strong, McKellar takes to social media each birthday to spread some wisdom about her thoughts on staying young.

For her 47th birthday, McKellar shared a similar message about staying young along with a makeup and filter free selfie. And for her 46th birthday, she had a similar post with a "no makeup, no filter, no hairbrush" selfie. "Man, 45 was a rollercoaster. It's interesting having a birthday so close to Jan 1st because with each new year comes a new age. My year 45...taught be to weather storms in a way I'd never had to," her caption began. "All the turmoil of 45 taught me to buck up and look at hard things, and along the way I discovered a bit of a warrior."

Her 46th birthday selfie caption continued with some reminders. "The things we actually know...aren't found in books or on the news or social media feeds. Trust your personal experiences over the hype, love your friends and families, help others often, and look for commonalities between yourself and 'the other side,'" she wrote. "That's my birthday wish."
