Fox Sports’ “Undisputed” star Skip Bayless has broken his silence regarding his insensitive Tweet about the Monday Night Football game and Buffalo Bills‘ safety Damar Hamlin.
After hitting Bengals player Tee Higgins, the Buffalo Bills safety got up and took a few steps before suddenly collapsing again on the field. Medical personnel rushed to Hamlin as an ambulance almost immediately came onto the field.
NFL analysts and viewers soon learned that medical personnel had to perform CPR on the 24-year-old for nine total minutes before placing him into the ambulance and rushing him to a hospital in the Cincinnati area. At the time of publication, Hamlin is in critical condition.
The sports commentator is currently under fire after Tweeting an insensitive comment regarding the horrifying injury Damar Hamlin faced while on the field and the fact that the NFL decided to postpone the game.
Skip Bayless Apologies
Fox Sports host Skip Bayless officially issued an apology for his Tweets when hosting his FS1 show “Undisputed” Tuesday morning.
“I apologize for what we’re going to set out to do here today, if it offends anyone because we’re going to try to do the show pretty much as usual we do the show,” he said on the air. “I’ll admit up front that I’m still shook up what happened last night to Damar Hamlin. In fact, I’m still wrecked. In fact, I’m not sure I’m capable of doing this show today.”
Bayless went on to say that after “barely sleeping on it,” he decided to appear on the talk show this morninig. “We wrestled through much of the night whether to even do a show today because it felt like in our minds, we almost can’t win with this because the last thing we want to do is come off as insensitive to what this young man is going through in a life or death situation.”
Bayless's co-host, former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, did not appear on today's show, though, Bayless did say Sharpe would return to the show Wednesday. It is unclear why Sharpe was not present on Tuesday.
Skip Bayless' Tweets
While many NFL viewers, players, and analysts took to social media to share their thoughts and prayers for Damar Hamlin, with many even saying that this “is bigger than football,” sports commentator Skip Bayless had other thoughts.
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game — but how?” Bayless Tweeted. “This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”

After thousands called Bayless out for his “sick” comments, the Fox Sports’ “Undisputed” star issued an apology. “Nothing is more important than that young man’s health. That was the point of my last tweet,” he said. “I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to.”

At the time of publication, although Skip Bayless has now issued an apology, Fox has not issued a statement regarding his Tweets.
